I loved this anaylsis overall! However, "Crack Baby" is not a love sone, it has been confirmed by mitski in interviews that the song is about a sense of living your life without purpose, seeing your life in the third person; as if you aren't present in your own life. The thing that Mitski is searching for in this song is her youth when she didn't have a care in the world; something she can't remember. Hence, something she knows she wants and needs back.

An important thing you forgot to mention about ‘A Pearl’ is that it took poetic inspiration from Lush’s ‘Pearl Diver,’ equating the Pearl to an old memory that the narrator holds on too, whether rolling around in your head or searching the deepest depths of the ocean. Another cool detail is that the humming tune heard at the beginning and end of Pearl Diver can be heard briefly just before “there is a hole that you fill”

this was so well made that it genuinely brought tears to my eyes. you worded the meaning of her music and its impact so meticulously in a way that is easy to understand even from an outside perspective. i have been dedicatedly obsessed with mitski’s music on a deranged level and i am so so so happy this was on my recommended. seriously the best and realest music analysis of mitski’s music that ive ever watched
