Advice from a fellow Chainsaw Carver, with 20 yrs experience. Take your 1/4 pitch chain with dime tip carving bar. Take your rakers down low and drag the tip of the bar at a slight angle really fast. Up and down and u will get that pattern but will also add a feather like look to it.

Five years later, just want to say your videos are amazing. You are a very funny guy, too. Totally appreciate your humorous asides. This was very helpful. Heading to Harbor Freight today (shit power equip company over here in Massachusetts) to return a crap die grinder but to pick up some sanding disks--because you inspired me with those owl feathers. Take care , man. Hope you great this. - Dave

Thanks Dave and I would suggest always a. Metabo die grinder. I had mine. It lasted me 5 years plus was a bit pricey at about 300 when I had purchased. Cheers!

Thanks for all your videos. I've been carving about 3 years now and your videos have made me a much better amateur carver. Your racoon tutorial was the best. I made one after watching it and was blown away by how good it turned out! Actually I think it's better than yours lol. But it took me 20 hours to do. I've carved lots of cubs in stumps and a couple of eagles as well and always had problems getting the eyes round and then a lightning bolt hit me. HOW TO GET PERFECT EYES! This is my amateur carver tip. DOWELING! Simply drill a hole in the head of yourcarving the diameter of the dowelling your going to use. Round off the sharp edges of the Dowell and glue it in. Works great and the eyes look perfect.

Use green marbles for your bears . Ppl love them, and at night when lights hit them they glow. I stopped carving the eyes years ago.

Cool truck. Thanks for carving an owl, it looks great. If that’s a fast carving I would like to see something you spend more time on. It’s great. The bear is also cool. Thanks for the videos. Keep em coming.

It's so easy to forget less is more I always want to carve so much detail if I did that bear paw I would want to go under the claws and put more fur on the paw but I would also be sitting there thinking how im going to do that and probobly waste alot of time. I love the video and ill try that pattern on some wings
