This is such a great rundown and I had such a great time following along with it. I wish I'd known about this months ago! I'm happily subbed now; if you ever feel like doing more CWN coverage I'm very here for it :D

This game hits all the points that Shadowrun does, except it is still class based (barely) and doesn't require a brick of d6, which are still things I appreciate. I'd like the magic system to be drain based like SR. I'd also ditch all the class based trappings, it is so close now... In fact it seems that class is just there for compatibility. All in all, this is a very solid base to use for a homebrew Shadowrun.

Funnily I've used another D6 based game the Year Zear Engine for a shadow-esque game, only real major change was being a lot more generous with meta-currency as the fuel for powers

You should look at Other Dust which was the first system for Post Apocalyptic setting.

are schemes in the other *WN books?

Not exactly. I believe Worlds Without Number has a similar thing with the factions system but I don't think it's as quite realized or refined.

The corporate gender stuff is weirdly presented. I discuss it a bit on my channel. It turned me off and I was not tempted to get the full game. It felt pretty reactionary but it could have been interesting if better presented or balanced with another perspective. But this is me, for most people it will probably not bother and can be ignored.

It's definitely... strange. It is just a part of the provided setting, which I didn't find that inspiring anyway, so I'd toss it for my own games.

@@iamdrwizard yeah in the free PDF it feel like it is more important, I guess that in the full book it feel more like a side note.

@@evlynm it's definitely in a weird place tacked onto the end of the setting. I remember flipping around a bit because I wasn't initially sure of whether it was intended to just be part of the setting or a general rule for the game.

yea, CIS white guys (like me) need to get different view on their work before it goes out to avoid this.

@@jerry247 always good to get a sensitivity reader when deciding to explore that kind of identity stuff. And it is often a fruitful and interesting exchange. Like when I was consulted for Pounds of Flesh (Mothership), it was super fun.
