I practice this too and I have discovered that this can help me to not get over stimulated in crowds. If I am walking in a major city or a huge mall I will get so drained by all the stimuli - probably because my default is living in a small village and nature just outside the door. But I noticed that what drains me the most in those high stimuli settings is that I tend to focus on everything. Peoples faces, peoples clothing, mood etc etc. That feels nice at first because I like to smile at people and I am curious of other people. But then it gets too much over time. If I go into wide angle vision and do not focus on everything, it's like throwing a counterspell at the stimuli. It doesn't really affect me then! It's hard for me to maintain because I really am a curious being you know! 😀 But it is a nice trick for this kind of thing aswell 😊 thank you for the video, Kenton ❤️

Nice! Traditionally I've had a tough time with cities, for this very reason -- and like you, have found that the wide-angle vision helps immensely! I can sure relate to that experience of living in an area with not many people, and the contrast when you get into a place that's filled with them! =)

I use this a lot while driving. You can also block a sensory input like hearing, via ear plugs, to help focus on sight alone. (Not recommended while operating any machinery) wide angle or splatter vision is almost a superpower
@ReWildUniversity2 жыл бұрын
It IS like a superpower, isn't it? And such an easily accessible one that doesn't take that much time to develop, at least compared to other superpowers! =)

Yes! Wide angle vision is very useful tool for both awareness and focus. I tend to use it when I want to learn new skills or memorize special moments. And especially when I'm driving.
@ReWildUniversity2 жыл бұрын
Interesting how many people have mentioned driving -- I feel like it's probably one of the biggest safety skills we could learn when driving. An interesting comment on our culture that we require safety measures like seat belts but don't even mention safety measures like wide-angle vision. =)

Awesome!! Thanks for sharing this. This is one of those perishable skills that if we fail to practice regularly will disappear from our tool box. our daily lives can encourage and sometimes even force us to hyper focus so often that we can easily forget that wide angle vision is so powerfully life changing. Thanks again my friend for your words of wisdom.

Wide angle vision has always been easy for me I don't need to focus specifically it's kind of a défaut vision for me very useful while driving or walking barefoot in nature or to find a friend in a crowded area.

Nice! And great examples of places where it can be powerful. Definitely WAY safer to drive with that wide-angle on.

I also believe i do this wide angle vission thing natually but.... I think there is also room for improvement. Over the last 10 years i was on a mission to heal from self sabotage and today i am happy to announce that i have come full circle. I arrived back to where i was but instead i am now the me i choose to be and not the me my environment influenced me to be. For one, i made a choice to move my being to a different location metally and physically. I chose places that where different from before, places that were not toxic and exphyxiating. My once narrow focus was, you could say, inherently overpowering and present due to the environment i once chose to be. My current atmosphere is now currently supportive to to postive grow. This is not to say that my past environment was entirely to blame but instead very hindering. All around me is a landscape of white snow, here is where i am at peace in this panoramic place of purity Michael K Englmann AKA ProperBoy POV

Hey! This is a good reminder. I'm on the computer a fair bit and it's easy to forget the periphery. Say, you never replied to my comment on your unemployment video, the only comment not replied to :p . It was not a very optimistic comment, so I understand if you don't have anything to say to it. But just in case you were meaning to reply, and forgot, I thought I'd bring it up.
@ReWildUniversity2 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher! So sorry your comment wasn't replied to! I've checked and rechecked the comments for that video, but can't find any comments from you there or in my review folder. I'm trying to find my spam folder to see if it somehow got placed in there by YT, but apparently there isn't a spam folder any more? Hmmm. In any case, I'm not sure if you're willing to repost, but if so I'd value your thoughts regardless of whether they are optimistic or not! =) And as I look at your comment here again, it appears that you can see it on the video? That would be bizarre if you could see it and I couldn't. But hopefully it means you could just cut-and-paste?
@christopherrowley75062 жыл бұрын
@@ReWildUniversity No worries! You are of course not obligated to keep up with every comment. Yes it's still there when I load the video, and it has 5 likes so it seems a couple people maybe feel similarly. Here is the comment: "I'm not unemployed, I'm just simply not employed. I turned 30 and have been looking back on the past 13 years since I moved out of home. I've tried to make it doing it the way society wants me to, but I'm now coming to terms with the fact that I'm just not cut out for it. I currently am what they call a deadbeat. The longest job I've had was 9 months. I've been homeless a few times. Lived on couches for a lot of it. I've never asked for money and I've learned to live super cheap, so at least there's that. Now though I've been married 2 years and live in a house. My wife pays the bills (not that I ever asked her to or expected her to, I know how to make it on my own). I cook and clean, take care of the pooch. And then work on music and other various projects as the mania takes me. But I feel terrible. It's hard for me to feel that I'm contributing without doing something to add monetary support to the family. Doesn't matter what should or shouldn't be, society and my family view it as one of the greatest shames. As you pointed out, I'm viewed with hatred and disgust. I've given up any silly plans of trying to make it in the system, and I'm trying to be productive on my own projects, but it doesn't seem enough. I basically have to isolate myself otherwise get confronted with society's view of me."

Christopher, YT FINALLY showed me this comment in my queue (along with about a hundred others that just "appeared". I've missed TONS of comments, which really bums me out. At any rate, I'm glad to finally read it (1 month later!) and honored that you shared your experience here. It doesn't sound fun. I know there are many "wise" things one might say about this situation, but that doesn't take away how difficult it must be. I'm hoping that somehow things have shifted for you over the past month.

Like you mean focusing on the the whole picture instead of stressing on small things?
@ReWildUniversity2 жыл бұрын
Yes, in a way. This is meant to be visual, so bringing our attention to our peripheral vision so that we're aware of more of our visual field's input. But when we do that, it tends to also defocus our minds and give us a broader view. For instance, in "focus vision" someone might snap at me and I'll go into reaction mode, snapping back, because all I can see is a person snapping at me. But in wide-angle mind mode, the person might snap at me and I'll see the broader picture -- they didn't get good sleep last night, their cat just died, and they're facing some health issues, and their snap doesn't have anything to do with me, but rather has everything to do with their own frustrations with their life. So I give a hug instead of retaliatory words, and the situation turns out quite differently. The best part is that you can still focus on something and deal with details while still maintaining awareness of your environment. I haven't found many things in life where I really need to narrow my visual focus -- even putting a thread through a needle or doing delicate knife-work can be done while still being aware of your larger visual field. =) Kenton
