What a fantastic garden! Very interesting to see footage of this nectar-robbing. I have read about it, but never saw it before. I will look for Comfrey around here to see if i can observe this behaviour as well. Thanks for sharing and greetings from the Netherlands.

Would you mind doing a video on your pond? How you made it, what's growing in there, insects- anything.

You've got a splendid garden Dave, not beautiful, but absolutely perfect for all wildlife. Hubby & I have Comfrey blooming now, and until this colder spell, the bees were all over it. I see you have one of the plain leaved variety which has all white flowers, I'm going on the lookout for some of those pronto! Thanks so very much for showing us round Dave, very much appreciated!

Thought about planting parasitic plants like Rhinanthus ( a facultative root hemiparasite) to speed up diversity a bit? It'll suck the nutrients out of the grass and will shift the balance towards herbs which it can't cling it's haustoriums to. Also Rhinanthus has a pretty flower and is pollinated by bumblebees :D

I sowed a heap about 1 month ago - hoping they help! There is a whole chapter in my book "A Buzz in the Meadow" about yellow rattle, so I thought it was time :)

Hopefully they'll thrive! Hadn't had a look into your other books (except a sting in the tale), just looked through your videos to optimize my garden for next year with advice by an entomologist ^^ yeah yellow rattle deserves a whole chapter; i had a plant ecology course at university and the professor spread his enthusiasm for parasitic plants successfully it seems ;) Although i tried to establish a small population in my garden, just one from about 150 seeds reached maturity so far :( Looking forward to hear about your yellow rattle meadow :)

Have you tried heptacodium? It's the most awesome late summer bloomer that all pollinators long for here in Maryland!!!!

Really enjoyed this video! Can I ask please what you use to seal the end of your cut drainpipe bee hotels? I have a a bit of drainpipe and some dried hollow teasel stems and want to make a bee hotel.
