I did read that the Australian Canberra's used in Viet Nam were so accurate in their bombing that if USAF forward air controllers knew they were available they would call them in in preference to anything else available.

Perth Western Australia has a great and often overlooked Air Museum at Bull Creek. Major exhibits include a Lancaster, a Catalina, a Dakota and many more. Another point of intrust is a myriad of small exhibits, engines, radio equipment and more.

Thanks for the video. My relative (RAAF) trained on Venturas in Canada before going to the UK with 487 Sqd. He was lost in a Mosquito in March 1944. I noticed the radio rack contained what we called Command Receivers, one of which I bought in 1961 at ACE Radio disposals shop.

Some years back I went with a friend to Coventry Airport where he was a member of a restoration group who looked after a Canberra I had the pleasure of helping with a few jobs on the aircraft which included placing the special hydraulic jacks and lifting the airoplane then once off the ground we sat on the floor with stop watches and timed the undercarriage while one of chaps adjusted the valves which controlled said equipment, I also had the dubious pleasure of helping remove the entire cockpit canopy assembly and replacing all the exploding bolts and wiring for when the ejection seat is fired all in all it was a brilliant day and very fondly remembered.

My late dad was Secretary (I think or Pres) of the Qld Air Museum organisation for a while. He'd be thrilled to see it getting publicity like this. They have a great collection in quantity, but many of the aircraft are in need of expensive conservation efforts. The museum is in constant need of money as they're essentially a volunteer organisation.

I spent time working in the RANAS museum at HMAS Albatross in 84/85. One of the Gannet squadron diaries was on display and it had a beautifully drawn cartoon of the mess piano strapped to the catapult with the flight crew on top. Hi Rex. You also looks like a nice fellow besides from making this incredible great channel. I really like your focus on (very) old plane, but of course there is many other interesting plane. Super Sabres and Starfighters didn't fly with the RAAF so while possible a collector might be able to get one, it's unlikely this or any other Aus museum would have one. I am keen though to see more of that CL-13 and the F111 they have there.

Have you seen Military Aviation History's "Inside the Cockpit" series? He has had the opportunity to sit in a number of different aircraft, and he goes around the cockpit in order, explaining what each control or instrument is. It's pretty interesting, and I don't think he's been able to get into a Ventura or a Canberra. Perhaps you can ping him about following the same format?

I remember a story of an Army guy in England in a pub who was disparaging some airmen for being able to go home every night and sleeping in clean sheets, going out the dine, and other luxuries they had over what the ground pounders had to live with. One airman walked over to his table and threw his bomber jacket on it saying he would trade with him right now. The army guy got up pulling off his field jacket saying he would and as he was about to slip his arms out asked "What ya do in that airplane?" "Ball turret gunner on the bottom of a B-17." ...... "**** you, 'ell no!" The airmen got to enjoy the rest of their time in the pub uninterrupted after that.😂
