I hope I can develop a knack for color like you have. You instinctively pick up the right value and color that makes the viewer see what you admired most about a scene. Thanks for a very easy and clear lesson. You really excel at clear instructions.

Nice demo. I was looking for your opinion of Pastelmat. A local shop is , unfortunately going out if business and has the Pastelmat 50% off - 9.5 x 12- regular $48.95. I did go agead and buy a pad withx12 sheets, various colors. I am trying to decide whether to purchas another pad. I do have 2 or 4 portraits i want to do in my hat over the eyes collection and thought thus might be a good choice to use for those. Thoughts? Thanks.

I use pastelmat all the time but wonder if you prefer canson. Do you think you get more layers with Uart? I have learned so much from your demos and love your friendly style. Thank you!

Hi Karen, thank you so much for those lessons. You're an amazing artist, so it's almost magical to have this tutorials and tips available for us here. Can I ask you something? Do you have any substitute for the blending tool you use? I live in Brasil, and since we don't usually have to use those pipe isolations in our buildings, it's been kinda hard to find this in hardware stores. Thank you again for all of this, love, Carol

Thank you Carol! I am not sure. It is like a packing peanut but denser. I have also used paper towels to blend the first layer. If anyone here has idea please chime in!

Thank you Karen. I have a question. Is it possible to do this on micanson paper with cleargesso? Thank you so much

Thanks for watching! Yes certainly. It would work on any paper that can get wet.

Hi Karen, Which set of Terry Lugwick pastels would you recommend for painting basic land & city scapes?

What do you do with all those small, quick paintings?
@KarenMargulis5 жыл бұрын
Some of them I sell on Etsy or bring to my workshops. Most just pile up in boxes. It is about the process and expression for me not about the sales or exhibitions. I am compelled to paint and the results are just a by product of this need for expression. Also these small dailies are a way to practice ideas and techniques so they are also a way to help me grow as an artist.
