Y’all are setting a pretty nice picture of life on the farm. With the exception of Freddie, everyone seems calm and happy-yet keeping busy. Love how the raised beds are built to the perfect height for the big pups. They can stand or sit comfortably watching every move you make in the bed as you tend the plants. Who’s going to be the first to decide to taste some veggies? ❤

I’ve seen in a channel , who visited an orchard from a long time ago in England , they keep a few sheep in the orchard and they keep the weeds and grass “mowed” naturally and they fertilize the ground as well. Maybe the neighbour will lend you a few to graze. 😂Will you be getting bees to help with pollinating the trees? With fencing in the orchard you’ll probably need a gate big enough to get your trailer in come harvest time, you’re going to have sooooo much fruit to get out of there. Yummy 😋 So good to see Chance so happy and playful, glad he’s healing well. Nevaeh and Fred are having a great time too. I’m so happy you’ve finally got moved into the new homestead and everyone is doing well. 👍🏼🙋🏼‍♀️

What a beautiful property you have Chris. I can't wait to see what the orchard gives you next year. I was so glad when you said you were going to cut the grass round the trees, I was looking at it thinking "snakes!". I'm from Scotland so we only have one snake here, the closest I get to a dangerous snake is at the zoo. My cousin is in Queensland now and he has found a brown snake in his greenhouse before and it freaks me out thinking of snakes hiding in long grass. I hope all your veg grows well.

Cattle dung breeds flies. Can get dung beetles from ag offices to fix this. Used to, years ago. Makes a big difference

Chickens get a scratch mix with layer pallets mixed in. Plus, all the fresh veges we can give them and if course shell grit.

I am jealous of your country life. We live in suburbia and it drives me nuts. Hubby has to be close to public transport to travel to work so that's that. .....It's okay coz my youngest kids have just finished high school so we are a bit more free to move now.

Will the horses have shade they can go to when summer is in full swing. And will you be getting a pond or trough for Nevaeh to plunge into as and when she pleases? Great to see you all settling in. I am looking at building a shelter for the horses, but all things will come in time. There are a couple of trees for shade in the front paddock and they will be in there this summer until I can get one built. Nevaeh jumped in the bathtub yesterday much to Fiona's amusement so will be moving it to somewhere she can easily get too, and I have another in the paddock to pull out. I will eventually look for something bigger, but it's a start.

@@nevaehwilson6062 Chris, you should check out shade sails. People use them around swimming pools for shade, over parked vehicles etc. Not sure sizes available or the cost. You could attach one end to the fence posts and then you might need to add a couple of extra poles for the other side. Or, maybe they can be secured into the ground.

Mum have you seen the outdoor sun shades? Yoh can get them rather inexpensively. You can install them easily. Even horizontaly or vertically! You could put them on your Amazon list. Just until you get the shelter for the hirses built!

Question, here in the US horses can’t eat grass at certain times because of the sugar in. They may get laminitis . Which is not good at all. Do you have the same kind of grass?

It really depends on the horse. Mine don’t get it or as yet have never had it but my neighbour in qld used to have one that got it. It is different grass than we had in qld so when the farrier comes tomorrow I will check with him about the grass and what he thinks. I will also ask him about a horse dentist and horse chiropractor as well. All new stuff to learn
