@minecraftveteran74102 күн бұрын
Early V8s were pretty quick. Kimi's McLaren in 2006 was just a mere 3 tenths slower than JPM's pole lap in 2005, at Monza, with much less power. Imagine what they would have been with further chassis and engine development.
@1010thechamp2 күн бұрын
Yes 2006 first V8s were not rev limited like from 2007 onwards and of course the engine freeze, with all that and draggy Redbull chassis from 2010-2013 Redbull had the slowest straightline F1 cars for the past 40 years.

@@1010thechamp 2007 still were pretty loud, which makes me think they still had no rev limits.
@1010thechampКүн бұрын
@MEGATBLAZER No 2007 was the year when they first introduced the rev limiter at 19k rpm, the following year the dropped it to 18k rpm, and with an engine freeze introduced, these NA V8s needs revs to make power and in 2006 the very first year they were quite impressive reaching 20k rpm and already at those high revs over 800hp.
@MEGATBLAZERКүн бұрын
@@1010thechamp 19K is still pretty good, they were way more limited after 2008 with 18K and I'd dare to say they reached lower revs later on.
@1010thechampКүн бұрын
@@MEGATBLAZER 19k isn't bad, but it doesn't leave scope for more power and also top speed as they don't have the torque for longer gears to optimise the acceleration, but yes 18k was awful, locked to around 315kph with DRS open was horrible to see.

Well... This seems a bit weird. At some moments the V8 seems to have both more power and grip, then suddenly the V10 turned into a grip monster and overtook the V8 where nobody expected it could even happen... In reality the V10 would be gone after the first straight

Yeah i realized that in some other Videos of this creator. I guess it is mostly staged.

@@geuros The R25 with it's great launch and the power would have im reality overpowered and outdragged the R26 V8 at the start and into turn one EASILY then it was race over doesn't matter how much the R26 had the advantage in the corners.

It's funny to know that Alonso's 2 Renaults are practically the same car, the only difference is the engine, one is V10 and the other is V8, and the year, but the paintwork and other things are the same.
