In reverse.....Well done for spotting and rescuing the caramaran. They were extremely lucky that you were there to save it. I loved the episode. The way you mix in with the locals is amazing. The photos are just so real, love them. I'm loving following your journey. Living vicariously through you in my dream place on earth ⛵🥰 x x

Thanks so, so much. We were just so pleased we were in the right place at the right time for Simon. We can't imagine how we would have felt being in the anchorage with him if his boat had been disabled or worse. Glad you're enjoying following our journey. We really feel kindred spirits with you two and love watching your adventures. We're so glad you have been able to come up with content while you're away from the boat. Always keeps us entertained. Here's to sharing an ale or whatever somewhere, sometime.

Wow, very lucky, by you guys recovering and that the conditions slowed it progress to the reef.

Thanks for watching and specially for taking the time to comment. We really appreciate it. It was very fortunate that we simply happened to be in the right place at the right time. As we raced across the channel we were afraid of what we might find but in the end the retrieval was fairly straight forward.

We use an anchor alarm that can send us a message while we are off the boat. Not sure how that would go in a foreign country without the likes of starlink and / or a local sim for a mobile phone. Does mean two phones, one on the boat and one you take with you. But would have alerted the owner not long after it started dragging.

That sounds like a very good system. We bet Simon never leaves the boat without his phone again. Cheers!

I hope your mate gave you a monster sized bottle of whisky 🥃. Good video. Ian

Thanks Ian. Glad you enjoyed it. Simon didn't need to do anything more than say thanks, but he did insist on taking us out to a very fancy Italian Restaurant in Labuan Bajo a few nights later so who were we to argue. 😜

I support that we are missing our sailing lifestyle

We know it will end one day but hopefully not for a long while yet.

Most boats, but especially cats have anchors that are too small. Cats have more windage and hunt around at anchor more even with a bridle giving higher inertial loads. I have a high performance light monohull, but the one place I will have weight is the anchor and chain. I have an 80kg Rocna type anchor and 115m of 10mm chain. It's way over the manufacturers recommendations....but I have never dragged this anchor and I always sleep well .....

All goods points. We also went heavier than what was recommended when we put a Sarca Exel anchor on Our Dreamtime coupled with 110 metres of chain. Ten years later we are still very happy with the anchor's performance. Cheers R & K

What were the lessons learnt from the dragging?

Brent, like us, Simon had anchored in a patch of sand amongst the coral but his spot shelved more quickly into deeper water so we suspect, at high tide with an offshore breeze, it pulled the anchor off the slope into the 100+ metre water in the channel between the islands. After that, she simply drifted until held by the wind against current situation we found when we reached her. When we headed over in our dinghy, we genuinely thought she was on the reef. When we arrived at the island on Our Dreamtime, we took quite a while to find a good patch of relatively level sand and really gave our anchor a good tug to make sure it was well set. It proved to be time well spent. Cheers Rob & Karen.

As usual ridiculous music during Cat rescue, can’t hear dialogue. No reply necessary
@Dreamtimesail7 ай бұрын
Sorry you didn't like it. We have reduced the amount of and volume levels of music we use under dialogue, We hope you have noticed those improvements and we will keep trying but, in this case, it was a dramatic event and we feel a bit of dramatic music enhances the segment. Cheers Rob & Karen.
