3 days backpacking solo around the Alpine Lakes Wilderness in Central Washington (Jade Lake, Dip Top Gap)! Climbed a glacier, caught four fish, hiked 25 miles round-trip with just shy of 6,000ft of elevation gain... went through a lot of different emotions out there! Early September, 2020.
*just noticed I mis-named one of the peaks somewhere in the video... ignore it if you catch it ;P

Backpacking exposes alot of those underlying emotions that lay dormant during everyday life. The mountains give me a space to digest ALL of it. Thee best therapy. Love the channel. Liked and Subbed

@@kayla_sulak How much should I be concerned about bears? I have the bear spray and I plan to hike alone this year. I am 80 years old and a very lucky man to be in such condition.

@@raymondhill3 it probably isn't a bad idea to carry bear spray or an air horn, at the least, but it depends where you're going. I personally don't think bears are a big concern in Oregon since we only have black bears (as long as you're responsible about hanging up your food away from your tent if you're backpacking), and the only time I saw a bear while hiking in Washington was when I was carrying a bag of trout down the trail at dusk in North Cascades National Park, but the bear (big black bear) just scurried off once it saw me. North Cascades NP actually requires the use of bear canisters for storing food when backpacking in the park. Haven't seen any bears while hiking in Idaho, yet... Now if you're talking about Canada, Montana, Wyoming, or parts of California, for example, I think there are a lot more bears and grizzlies are around, so bear spray and a bear proof food containers are an especially good idea in those parts.

@@raymondhill3 I'm usually more concerned about mountain lions when hiking, and the ruthless rodents when I'm camping! 😜

@@kayla_sulak Thanks for the insight Kayla. It's all good fun. I've heard mountain lions are the ones to consider, now you've helped really believe it.

It was definitely weird fishing in a glacial silty lake where you can't see more than an inch into the water, I'm more used to the clear water lakes!

@@kayla_sulak I hear ya! I spend a lot of time fishing and filming youtube videos out in the Cascades and always love finding those glacial colored lakes. We all get a little anxiety here n there... especially alone, miles out in the mountains! I subbed :)

@@patrickprice3230 Speaking of crying, quit being a sensitive vegan. Me having emotions doesn't mean I don't deserve to enjoy a backcountry trout meal. WDFW stocks the lakes FOR anglers to catch, and the regulations don't say catch and release is required.
