@masternate2993 He literally did not; I believe there's even a convo you have with him where he confesses he couldn't even kill himself because Cazador would forcefully compel him not to, and he couldn't resist because he had no control over his body when he was compelled. Dnd vampire spawns are basically thralls to their master, but fully aware of the fact they're being controlled, which is utterly terrifying

It’s a devastating line no one talks about. To have asked for help, he had to have some hope he would get it. Or he would have to be desperate enough to beg for it. Both scenarios are equally depressing for their own reasons.

Also the fact that after his clothes are removed and he's explaining what Cazador did to him, Astarion doesn't make direct eye contact with anyone. He doesn't even turn to face who he's speaking to. He just keeps his body turned away and makes repeated sideways glances as though he's ashamed of himself right in that moment.

Motion capture helps a lot, but especially with someone as complicated as facial expressions, there’s a lot of human work that goes into it

I really like the character Rafahel, I think he's well written as an evil character and he's fun in the story. But Rafahel is terrible, you can really hate him if you see behind the facade. But that's exactly the effect it's supposed to have on the player. And that makes him a brilliant character.

There are so many variables, if you don't do one specific thing it could send the story off in a completely different direction than you were expecting. I'm in my third full playthrough right now and I'm still finding new things. Try forgetting to do something every once in a while and see how it changes the story, you'll be surprised! 😊

Yes. Mephistopheles is Raphael's dad basically, and the one who made the deal with Cazador for the 7k spawn's souls as a sacrifice. So Raphael would be all up in Caz's business observing and scheming from amongst the throngs of Cazador's patrons, sycophants, and allies. What he says... ugh... I can just imagine.

@@just_another_marvelmess Astarion is one of the two characters who's romance begins with sex. If you're romancing him, you'll know. It's hard to accidentally romance anyone in this game. It was possible with Gale at launch, but it's been fixed. Even if you do the act 1 romance scenes (that aren't sex) it won't start a romance unless you kiss them or choose very obvious flirty options. Honestly, even if you do sleep with Astarion, he's very happy if you tell him you want to be his friend in act 2. All in all, don't worry about accidentally romancing him, because you won't.

He is nothing like Cazador. Very different personalities and motivations. Cazador let himself be consumed by paranoia and pointless, excessive cruelty. Astarion is able and willing to form friendships and romantic relationships. Cazador had no real relationships and didn't know any of the spawn prior to turning them. When Astarion ascends, he has already achieved more than Cazador ever had. The entire comparison is very trashy pop psychology.

@@ConductorCore Astarion was never good-aligned. What is your point? He told you that he wanted to use a supernatural method to bond you to him and him to you. You don't have to accept that. He will let you go at that stage. But post turning you both have a permanent bond, as intended. Actions have consequences. He didn't sugarcoat that. My characters are not good-aligned either, and not some witless dupes or zealous do-gooders. Big part of the attraction is compatible alignment. I mean, imagine a chaotic neutral, somewhat blood-thirsty and deceptive drow dating a "benevolent burden" (Lae'zel' s wording, very fitting) like Wyll. Can you seriously imagine that? Lol. No, of course not. That would have been a very hard pass. Astarion is not perfect, but he is actually compatible with this type of player character.

He also isn't even interested in talking to the others at the party if you ask if he wants to say hello, which i feel is a pretty significant

So he is willing to do things he doesn't necessarily care for, for your sake. Sounds like decent ability to compromise within a relationship, to please your partner. Plus keep in mind that he is a new type of creature following the ritual, first of his bloodline. Still learning new things about his own acquired condition. He is still overwhelmed by it and will mellow out over time. Permanent highs are not a thing. A person's frame of mind and outlook do change over time. Things are never static and change is the only constant. Even for vampires...

У меня кстати глитч был, и другие люди тоже писали, наверное Лариан его уже исправили? Даже если его романсить и переспать с ним, все равно при разговоре с Рафаилом в таверне была опция спросить «какие еще шрамы?» 😀. Но вообще ситуация жуткая, каким клевым бы ни был Рафаил, он очень плохо обошелся с Астарионом, а тот даже не разозлился, а скорее расстроился, что снова всем плевать на его личное пространство 😭

You have to pick "what scars?" In the menu, which you see even if you've slept with Astarion (twice 👀) so assume it's a glitch.
