A rare look at the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard

Right now, F-16 fighter jets fully armed for combat, stand ready to launch from a military base in Wisconsin. The jets, stationed with the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard, have been on this alert mission since the day after the terror attacks on 9/11.

Dont understand why they have fly out of a populated area like Madison, they are a huge noise nuisance. Jet airliners are nothing compared to these things as far as noise.

You don't have to understand why the Wisconsin Air National Guard flies out of a "populated area". Truax Field is a long time Air defense base. So get over it

Do you think Madison is the only "populated area" with fighter base close by? Truax Field was established in 1942 and no doubt the city grew towards the base. The base won't be going anywhere soon, so maybe you need a good set of ear muffs or move out to the middle of nowhere and find something else to bitch about
