Wes, as you know, I watch your channel. I never made it public, but I am on the board of MSU college research stations. We, as producers, direct them to what we need to see in research in our areas to help with our crops. With that being said, I agree that we need a advisory board but it needs to be also with the research folks involved.

Hi from az wes. Although its been many years since i grew cash crops, back then Australia brought in plant breeders rights which enables farmers to save their own seed but pay a royalty on grain sold(this is deducted at point of sale and remited by the buyer and there is also random varietal testing as well to keep people honest about declaring variety of grain) .But i am not knowlegable about thelaws reguarding gm crops here. Im sure you could find the current laws here on the internet fairly easily.

Wes, find the seed banks and get 20yr old expired patent seed genetics to plant and legally reuse the seed, then you get all the modern tools like glyphosate-readiness. While expanding that seed bank quantity, get Reids Yellow Dent and/or Bloody Butcher open pollinated corn, I bought Reids at 1/3 the price of the hybrids. Plant a few bags and adapt it to your land/methods. Seed corn should be ear picked and stored on the cobs over winter, shelled seed corn can get toasted through driers. Drag an antique one row picker behind your old tractor for a good youtube episode.

Joel's dad worked in the oil industry and was wealthy. Now, people pay him to apprentice from him. People are paying him to work his farm for him. His ridgid plan would never work here in Wisconsin where we get snow and sub zero temperature his system wouldn't work. They don't want independent farmers anymore they want beef to become like poultry and pork where processors own animals farmers just contract to raise them. The wef wants to make fertilizer and chemicals to be unaffordable, so quit using it just like Sri Lanka, where they went from exporting food to starving. Hungry people are easier to control look at the socialist countries. My opinion is need to get government out of markets whether it's commodities or fertilizer and return to free market.

All the regulations have also pretty much crimalized direct marketing. I could easily keep a dozen milk cows here and have people come to me for their milk but that's illegal. We also have to think about our friends out west on ranches dealing with predators, wild horses, transplants and various federal agencies trying to tell someone else's dog what to do.

Joel Salatin's concept only works for farms within a minimum distance from a major city. The cost vs. income balance doesn't work in the Salatin model without access to a large number of high income yuppies.

One video you posted in the last few years you mentioned selling everything, getting out of farming to run for Congress. I replied with what you would be going up against, basically not thinking it would be a good idea for you to pursue. I change my mind. You so easily talk on camera. It would be cool to see you in a picture with Chip Roy, a fellow conservative and bald guy. You could look like twin brothers.

Double edged sword: higher prices for crops means higher food prices for consumers. The seed issue I agree with: farmers should be able to retain seed from harvest without financial penalty. They already do and pray to the seed god they don't get caught.

that's horse shit that farmers products are increasing the cost of food! its the middle man that's doing that... these huge corporate food producers are making millions and billions of dollars on cheap raw product to make there food products.
