Saw in your class notes the words "Maria Brazil", I imagine it was a reference to the "Maria da Penha Law", this is a rule that turned killing woman in my country into a crime with bigger punishment, and recently the act of disrespecting any restraining orders also became a crime. Maria da Penha was shot and is now in a wheel chair because of a partner she had contacted the police for several times. This law changed the game for us here, but sadly a lot of women still die in the hands of theirs partners.
