What are your go to books, inspirations, etc. I am just starting graphic design and even though I have my bachelors in design, I feel like school did not prepare me in the slightest. Wow this is just what I need! I’m a designer from Australia, starting out my career, but currently working a 9-5 design job, as well as freelancing/ running my own business at the same time. It can be so draining and hard to deal with the sacrifices , but it’s so comforting hearing from someone in a similar position- and the way you speak about setting yourself up and how to think when you’re feeling down is just want I needed! The planned vs reality is similar to mine, the breaks and walks are really necessary specially on days where the mind gets tired faster! Your approach to your day in the life has given me the confidence to share mine too! I honestly feel self-conscious and think that my work pace is so slow to film but you know what, that’s just reality! ❤

I've been struggling to start as a freelancer. I have plenty of down time, even during my current job I'm working at 4 days a week. Because I do not get many tasks and often end up not having to do much at work. This time I could easily spend working on my business but somehow I just have zero motivation to do anything and I struggle a lot with self doubts and feeling like my skills are not good enough. I'm very avoidant with doing the work and just end up playing video games instead. How do you deal with this?

I did! It was nice to get mentors who could teach me (i had both absolutely amazing professors and really terrible ones). However, I do think that it is not necessary to go into art school + it's super expensive actually, you could definitely learn the same skills through an online course or if you want to go for that self taught route. In other words, you definitely do NOT need to go to art school

Also tbh, I learned the basics of graphic design but what they cannot teach you is your own style, your own taste and "visual aesthetic" hope that helps
