A recap of the 2020 Iowa Derecho (8/10/20)

Three Years ago: The 2020 #IowaDerecho. The costliest thunderstorm disaster in US history formed on August 10, 2020.
By noon, the storm began its destructive march through eastern Iowa impacting the Cedar Rapids Metro area by 12:20 p.m.

What an insane storm. It came up on us so fast, I remember seeing the windows flexing on the west side of the house. Thanks for the recap, I’ve watched the minute by minute video many times while folding clothes

Blew out a couple of my exterior storm windows, screen doors, westside, and destroyed my camper, trees fell on it, but we were safe, all that counts. Luckily trees fell on the camper or it would have been overturned, demolished. Crazy storm. over an hour of wind, once the main front went thru, it was insane.

Thanks. The landscape near Palo was forever changed. We seem to appreciate more now what we once had, but it will be a long time to see those big trees and forests like it once was , once again. One day at a time, watching a new tree grow. For us here it was like a 45 -50 minute hurricane, in Iowa. Crazy stuff.

We showed up after this storm and had no idea this storm even existed. We live in Colorado, our news stations told us nothing.

Its not much but you can see the perspective from my car's dashcam at Collins Rd Hy-Vee on my channel. Since I already went inside the store to start my shift the video feed is only at 1fps but you can still see the incredible winds on the footage.
