It’s all about influence. In previous interviews Reece has mentioned being inspired by a lot of American hip hop, he’s of course going to adapt to some American aspects. He’s not trying to be anyone, it’s all about the influence.

but atleast we have to express a benchmark where we can distinguish hip hop music from trap music. from what i believe hip hop is more than just a genre. it was formed so that it can address people about issues that befell the society. you cannot deliver a message through trap music medium. trap is not hip hop.
@ThisIsAzariaBeatz8 жыл бұрын
+Thobani Vitaleous You sound ignorant. Have you listened to Trap Soul by Bryson Tiller? Isn't he telling a story using Trap? Get your facts straight. Hip Hop music is huge and has a lot of sub-genres and Trap is one of the most successful (if not the most successful) of them. Have we seen a style of Hip Hop so consistent and lasted so many years and is still standing strong? Don't say there's no story in Trap just because you can't relate to the message. If someone tells you about blowing 30K at the club you clearly won't understand cuz you don't have that kind of money and lifestyle.
@thobanivitaleous28378 жыл бұрын
first of all trap is unrelated to hip hop. secondly the sub-genres of hip hop were rapping ( aka MC's ), graffiti, deejaying and dancing. where does trap occur among these sub-genres? trap is just a silly pop culture invention which underestimates the creativity of real rap. and as for Bryson tiller, of course he is doing trap soul and successful at it. but he is just a pop artist, he is not doing hip hop.
@ThisIsAzariaBeatz8 жыл бұрын
+Thobani Vitaleous Nah man, those are activities and not genres. If Hip Hop music is like a branch, sub genres are like leaves that stem from it. Trap stems from the very roots of 2 pac and uses same poetic elements just different styles of rapping and beats. But you may stay that close minded and see where it gets you. You could appreciate the progression or stay stuck in the 90s. Much Love.

Yaaaaayayayayayayayaya!!!! So you mean to tell me that South African hiphop really is losing in such a big way??? Here I am vibing to SA hiphop and thinking how on-point everything is from the flow, to the beats, to the production.... now in just the space of a few days I've heard Cassper Nyovest talking rubbish on Sways Universe saying we (Africans) "want to be Americans so bad, you don't even know, bro." His words: "I'm African American. African by birth but I wanted to be American." Now this chap here talking with his imported accent (from where?) "Yo, I'ma keep it one-hunned coz word to my mama and my fans they know that's how I am..." No, just no. Your mama doesn't know what you're talking about.

came here to hear your thoughts about his response to HHp but all I'm reading is how his forcing the American accent...but lets face it,even you have a different way of speaking English..some of you are like so British..well it does matter...can you tell us what you really think about his response to HHp cos that's what the interview was about...on ma side hip hop is a no child's play...no rapper nurses feelings,u say what u feel when u feel like saying it,if u cant handle it,suck it up,this is hip hop not RnB........i have to say he was very humble and consistent...i hope HHp doesn't catch any hard feelings cos the way Reece responded didn't sound like he caught hard feelings,he humbly shared his thoughts...very civilized kid...

hip hop doesn't exist anywhere but in the mind of those that subscribe to the ideology or movement. same as religion...you can not touch, see, smell or taste hip hop. it is but an didea you internalize. with every generation the ideology will change. it will be kinda useless to see how people define and experience hip hop for themselves to be the same as 15/20yrs ago. That is 15/20yrs of wasted time not pushing to evolve an idea. what the kids of today like is all their business, their ideas and their experiences. the older generations will be forgetting their past if they try to put their views on the youngsters. my generation went through the same type of criticism from the generations that has gone before us. TRUST ME...the next generation will look at these cats with the same arrogance and disregard...that is just the way it is..apologies for the long rap...
