I was prescribed fluoxetine (Prozac) for about nine years, and one of its intended purposes is to alleviate Binge Eating Disorder. It was so effective in this way that I, an unrepentant “chocoholic,” was blessed with the ability to allocate the fudge that I received at Christmas until April 😳! Therefore, I was wondering if your hypothetical patient’s weight loss might be accredited to a decrease in appetite caused by the sertraline? (I regrettably had to terminate Prozac because it was also dramatically exacerbating the uncontrollable, disturbing hallucinations, and the mental rituals that I felt (and still feel) compelled to perform to refute that it was supposed to treat 😱!)
