Enjoy this relaxing tour of the Morikami Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach, Florida. They have 6 different Japanese garden styles so sit back and enjoy these various gardens all set in a sub-tropical climate. This is a very well-maintained Japanese garden designed by Hoichi Kurisu. He has done a lot of famous gardens throughout North America and often blends traditional Japanese garden aesthetics with his creativity and use of local materials.
It was 95 degrees out with humidity but we really enjoyed strolling throughout the garden. The Cornell Cafe is a must for lunch and the museum has rotating exhibits.

Just found about this place a few minutes ago and i can't wait to visit soon, it looks breathtaking. 7:08 to 7:55 reminds me of that garden Julie trained with Mister Miyagi in The Next Karate Kid where Miyagi explained the rock garden to Julie and how its the representation of inner peace.

Beautiful garden, and a relaxing & meditative video! I love how the garden is definitely a Japanese garden but using tropical plants, set among tropical clumping bamboo. So my style!! I was wondering where the garden was before reading the description, until the shot with the iguana- in Florida. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks! It was really interesting to see a very well composed garden but making use of local tropical plants. I think I'm going to do a breakdown video of the sub-tropical Japanese garden.

Stunning, although man made, just a thought, what's the name and symbolism of the circular stone "lantern" that's a first for me, thanks. 😍👍

That one is a little different! It's called the 'Chie no Wa', or Ring of Wisdom. It represents the Buddhist deity wisdom, Monju, and is a replica of the one in Miyazu where George Murakami is from in Japan.

Are there gazebos or benches where a small group could just vibe and have a picnic?

There are some areas like that. There is an entrance fee though so it's not like a free open park, but there are areas to relax off the pond. They do however have a great restaurant there with very fair prices for their bento boxes. And a beer on a hot day never hurts either ;)

Too western, or not Japanese enough. I can see the difference.

I actually think they do a very good job given their climate. The gardens have been designed by a Japanese garden designer and they are very well maintained. They are different though, but I would say due to their subtropical climate you could compare them to Japanese gardens in Okinawa. Try a google search for "Shikinaen Garden" in Okinawa and you might find some similarities. Cheers!
