When you paused the video on Soyeon at 12:27, I never noticed the oversized baubles on her. IMO they made her look like a giant accessory or piece of jewelry. Everything she chooses to show and wear has meaning, so it made me think there has to be a reason she dressed this way. Thanks for the deep analysis and insight.

This might be one of my favorite idle concepts in awhile. The message reminds me a lot of Chanmina's Bijin - the 'spectacle' and expectations and sort of making fun of that whole celebrity culture especially as it pertains to and harms women. Idle don't come across as furious as Chanmina, but i really like that because their audience is different - they instead make it clear they'll just do what they want anyway.

The best of it all? It's just that it was probably ingeniously thought out. In Korea it is very common for men to take pictures of nude women without their consent, so there is a lot of research for these nudes there, and with gidle nxde they made all the research go to their music and fought the sharing of these images. Besides that in Korea, "IDLE" is like a "child", so if someone searches for images of children, they'll give it to their music. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but either way it was fucking brilliant and amazing. For me, the best comeback of the YEAR, and I don't say that just because I'm a fan and they are my favorite group in all of kpop. They didn't just bring a concept and a message behind the song like they always do, this time they went further and that's very significant. These girls are so genius it's amazing. I love them so much. 💜

GIDLE Nxde’s concept of the music video was inspired by the actress Marilyn Monroe and old Hollywood Glamour era. •There were alot of historical references in the music video and the song lyrics about Marilyn Monroe,literary references,and messaging of women empowerment. •I am not sure if the song sampled a classical song. The instrumentals seem similar to me.Can anyone please let me know. Thank you. •All of the girls look stunning, but Shu-hua is really standing out to me..

The chorus has a modified sample of the theme "Habanera" from Bizet's opera Carmen. The cone bra worn by Soyeon is a design by Jean-Paul Gaultier made for Madonna's Blonde Ambition tour which started April 1990. (Madonna's was a pink corset design with not as large cones!!) The shredded artwork is a reference to Banksy who through a piece of peformance art shredded his "Girl with Balloon" piece which had sold for £1million prior to shredding. It was then sold as a piece named "Love is in the Bin" for £18.5million !!

The animated character did not have that hair. Also, Marilyn did not have her birthmark near her eye. It was off to the side equidistant between her left nostril and lips. The animated woman has the birthmark under her left eye. You know who else has a birthmark under her left eye? Soojin.

In my personal opinion & I love Soyeon I do wish instead of the ‘first’ rap in the beginning I wish she JUST did the second rap in the middle of the song. I think it would’ve flowed better personally & the second rap is def my favorite I think if the 1st rap was taken out the line distribution would’ve been better because then the other girls could’ve gotten to sing some other lines in the song instead but that’s just my opinion still love the song

Not sure how I feel about a Korean girl group invoking the culture and struggles of woman from the west (my culture). Different cultures, values, norms and different levels of progress leading up to fair treatment and rights of woman. In Korea today and Japan, these countries are much more masculine driven compared to the west. Additionally, Korea and Japan are collective societies and not individualistic societies... so ya, wrong message for a beautiful Kpop group if they are trying to portray this kind of message to a fan like me who is married into a Korean family, educated and has been all around the world and knows Asian cultures extremely well.. and the history of those countries. (But that is just my opinion). That said, yes all woman were expected to conform to cultural norms in their society for the time but in todays society.... no group places more "expectations" on woman more so than... woman themselves. Think about it. I grew up w/ a lot of sisters... they were so competitive w/ one another. Today I work in the Corporate/Sr. Gov sector, I can honestly say, no group hates to see woman succeed like other executive woman because they are competing. Its weird.. but this song is no longer emblematic of the struggles of woman in the west. P.S. love you OG.. keep the reviews coming. P.S.S. Marylin Monroe was absolutely no saint... lol. Ya, big miss understanding of who she was and what she did.
