A RETIRED DANCER'S POV- STAYC "Stereotype" M/V+Dance Practice

So one thing about the title and choreo and point choreo......the title isn't actually Stereotype. The korean title translates roughly to sunglasses (actually, that's not right....it's more colored/tinted glasses). That's why the beginning of the choreo they literally make a set of glasses with their arms and the point choreo is literally them putting their hands up to their face like glasses. It also makes the lyrics make some more sense.....it's not really stereotypes per se but rather not seeing someone through tinted glasses

@@ogkpopstan In korean it is similar! 색안경을 끼다 means to have a biased viewpoint or have prejudice, but literally is translated to "wear tinted glasses" (hence the tittle of the song)

A direct English translation could potentially be confusing for some, given 'rose-tinted/coloured glasses' is more related to blind and/or unrealistic optimism. I know it would have tripped me up hadn't I already known the context of the lyrics.

This song is so addicting. It's quintessential kpop in the best way. I think it's a pretty surefire bet now that STAYC is here to stay. So many of these girls have that IT factor, plus the vocals to back it up. Whoever their choreographer is deserves a raise too! Reminds me of the memorable killing points you get from TWICE.

I think the reason why STAYC's music is so good and is perfect in our ears because their producer Black Eyed Pilseung made most famous songs from girl groups before such as Sistar's Touch My Body, a lot from JYPE girlgroups like Cheer Up, Fancy, Only You, and Like Ooh Ahh. Also the one who produced Apink's recent releases like So Sick and Eung Eung.

Nice. I never watched any STAYC before. Thanks for the introduction. There precision actually reminds me of the now defunct GFriend. They dance well, and in my humble opinion, the short one with the white top in the practice video is really something. No wonder she was often in the center during their various formations.

if u want to check how they did that synchronised part in the first verse around there u might want to check out fancams! sometimes they take from an angle that allows u to see what is going on- i was watching seeun's (shes the girl w the bleached middle section) fancam and since she is quite present in those parts the fancam was taken from the side so i cld see what just happened
