I became an avid Korean music aka Kpop listener/lover since 1998. Korean and rap music were my coping mechanisms from the bullying I experienced in middle school through high school and my love for the genre has stuck by me ever since. The genre, along with artists like Michael Jackson, Aaliyah, Britney Spears, etc. then motivated me into becoming a hip-hop/pop dancer, which was a very active lifestyle for me literally throughout my whole 20s. (XTRA DANCE 411- I danced for, trained, and performed with 4 different dance teams. My first and main dance team who started my "dance life" was with Marvelous Motion (who later became IaMmE, America's Best Dance Crew Season 6 Champions). A lot of my dance training came from Di "Moon" Zhang, Brandon "747" Harrell, Emilio Dosal, SOREAL, and from attending many dance classes in Houston and L.A. (from amazing local talent to widely-known talents such as Parris Goebel, Keone Madrid, Kyle Hanagami, Lando Wilkins, Mister Wiggles, Rino Nakasone)
Unfortunately, I took a huge break from Korean music and dance around 2015 when I was officially diagnosed with lupus nephritis, seizures, and a heart murmur. I was receiving and battling years of chemotherapy and dialysis along with taking 32 pills a day, so I had no mental/emotional/spiritual room to keep myself updated with Kpop or dance. Luckily, I'm in remission now. That doesn't mean that lupus and seizures are gone because I am still very capable of frequent flare-ups if I don't take care of myself, but I make sure to do so enough to manage and live as "normally" as possible. I am also not capable of being an active dancer like I used to be due to my chronic illnesses, but I’m still a dancer in my mind, heart, and soul.
ALSO! Just to be SUPER clear- me calling myself an "OG kpop stan" does NOT mean that anyone who's listened to kpop after me is inferior or less-than. A kpop lifestyle is a kpop lifestyle regardless of time. Please don’t get that sh*t twisted.😛 Sooo I am currently and actively keeping a weather eye on the KPOP horizon and also using what I’ve learned from my dance years to give credit where it’s due!

This is by far the comeback that is closest to his personality. Blue, more than Open Mind and Lose, is the most similar to the b-side tracks he produced for MX. He suits the sexy concept well but it’s refreshing to see him do a bright one so he doesn’t get pigeonholed to that image. I’m frustrated that he (and MX) are still severely underrated in 2021.

Blue is definitely more to Wonho’s personality then Lose and Open Mind and his collab “it ain’t about you”. Though he works hard for his body thus why he shows it off in Open Mind and Lose, a particular shot in “it ain’t about you” and for certain parts of this one.. this boy is gonna go shirtless at some point in all his MV’s but I am never prepared for it. Out buff bunny that has a heart of gold. Blue is as much of a bop as Open Mind and Lose are. I love how so thing his voice is, it’s tone. And I love seeing him smile. He shows his charisma even more when on stage.

Funny that you pointed out in the dance practice how the bridge portion consists of much simpler moves but it still goes so perfectly with the song. I’m 99% sure that he had that part choreographed SPECIFICALLY that way because he intended to make a TikTok challenge out of it- which he did! 😆 Edit: also just wanted to add I appreciate how you take notice of how fluid Wonho is when he moves. I’ve noticed this about him recently as well. If you watch old videos of him dancing with MX you can see where everyone else dances with a lot of strength and aggression, Wonho moves much more smoothly and gracefully. I just love that he stands out that way.

I've been watching his comeback stage performances and he's soooo charismatic! He's been performing this song with such confidence, not necessarily swagger because that's not what the song demands, but with such an easy/fun feeling. And his vocals are incredible! The high range for one but he handles it with no problem (tenor/mezzo soprano??). I'd like to see him promote another song from his Blue Letter mini album - I wish him continued success on his solo promotions. [And yes, he's a hunk in the traditional Western sense, so he's got that going for him as well haha]
