Thank you for this, I am still trying to piece together my own Zettlekasten system. You are absolutely right, the note-taking is the "easy" part-- figuring out how to systemically link all of the concepts is another challenge.

I would love to see you share a digital update on how to do this kind of note taking. I find this really brilliant. Thank you for sharing! I do hope you continue making more videos. Your sketchnotes are so beautiful. I am shocked you don't have more subscribers, you just earned a new one. Hope you come back to YT soon.

I just discovered your channel and subscribed with this video! Thank you. I would love to see how you actually use the cards: how you store them, how you reference them. I use a bullet journal, but not very effectively. An infinitely shuffleable "deck" of ideas has always seemed like what I want, but I can't seem to visualize it in use. As for a digital version, the closest match that I know of is Google Keep. It is already organized as "cards" and using the categories you can link the cards to multiple categories. I just don't like going over to it when I am reading. Again, thank you.

@Bulletproof Journals since you were wondering, the point of creating links, is that when you resurface an idea again at a later date, you also surface related ideas that you might have forgotten are connected to the idea you are surfacing. It is also a way to get in the habit of generating connections between your ideas.

Yes!! Finally a zettlekasten for visual learners! I love it!! Can’t wait to see more of your system! What kinds of cards do you use? I was playing around with the idea of buying full page card stock and just cutting then to the size I want because I think regular index cards you get a the store are too thin.

one thing I will caution you against is sticking yourself in a box. we are all every type of learner, visual, physical, audio visual, etc. combine them all for the most effective learning.

Hola.

I do similar, but sketch my notes on pices of thermal label stock paper and i also have label printer always connected to my research machine. I don't hide my cards, but stick them on a special wall in my apartment in a spatially meaningful way. so that they are always in front of me and grouped by research topic/interest. like mathy ones start from top level corner, the ones on data networks is like top left, etc. I start my day by taking a glance at the wall

I would echo everyone else and say wonderful job. I really love the visuals. Those cards are great I’d also echo the concept of Obsidian, but only if you have an iPad and you get the Excalidraw plugin. That plus the Dataview plug-in could accomplish this task. You might really love that!

This is fantastic, congratulations! Being a visual thinker myself, it intrigues, however, I also take so many digital literature notes with the Zettelkasten method, I think I would be overwhelmed by the work load and paper load... so I wonder how I would be able to implement this visual notes system...

Interesting way of writing Zetteln. ☺ Have you watched the mind mapping videos by Justin Sung here on youtube? He uses lots of pictures for the concepts on his mindmaps and talks about how to go from something you're learning, like a lecture or a book to a mind map.

How about going digital with it? Each card is an image, that is searchable by almost all the Clouds (Apple Photos, Google Photos, etc...). Because all of these cards are just images, they are future proof, and you can move them wherever and whenever you want. Just an idea. BTW: great video, and thank you for the insight. You have a new sub ;-)

These notes are awesome! I was looking at Zettelkasten before but your video is the one that inspired me to give it a go. In a true Second Brain fashion. You video reminds me of this: Ralph Ammer's How drawing helps you think (Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKLPhYZ5q7VgkJI ) which explores that unless you can draw it, then you haven't fully understood it.

In researching Zettelkasten, I just discovered a fairly new app, Scrintal, for digitizing, through Santi Younger KZbin. This might be a great tool to add to your modified method. Also, the book, How to Take Smart Notes, by Sonke Ahrens is comprehensive guide and adds great insight to Zettelkasten method.
