Wow! I used to run theJames in an open canoe before I left Richmond in 1980. As I recall, what you saw was REALLY big water in an area that is strictly kayak country at the best of times. Congratulations.

My hometown. Lived near the Pony Pasture. So many people have drowned in the James! Glad all of you got through it, especially in flooded waters!!! It very dangerous!!!

Nice work. This was my home river and hometown for decades. I learned to kayak on this river and even lived on an island for a summer near Pipeline. The James is a truly magical river and beautiful in its own unique way.

Awesome video man! Glad you got to experience our beautiful city. If you're close you should definitely spend an entire day and go from the upper (pony pasture) to the lower (past reedy creek and pipeline like in this video) the trees are absolutely gorgeous around now.

Ive been here 33yrs and 2days....I grew up on this river and know every rock and spot/island from Maidens to Rocketts Landing.....and we DO NOT call it "The 'Ol James Brown".......
