A lot of people are saying the second ending (the one ryan got) is not as disturbing. Because it isn't supposed to be. She got out, she "found out" the truth, in a sense. The first ending is worse of course because she doesn't get free, she's kept in the basement. Both are disturbing in the fact that this stuff happens in reality

For those who don’t know: the pills are used to make the girl go sleep heavily, which the “dad” everyday r*pes her in her sleep. In the game when you decide to still take the antipode after the dad doesn’t come back for a long time, she says she feels sick, it means she became pregnant and nausea is something common while being pregnant. Pretty dark game. Edit: In the actual game (not the ROBLOX one) she actually says “my tummy is big and round” which as you know, means there’s a baby inside of her. The reason I’m guessing it’s not in the ROBLOX one is probably because it’s a moderated sentence/word

For those who don't know, My Eyes Deceive was heavily based on a real life case. If you want to hear about the case, there is a documentary about it (look up the Josef Fritzl case and you should be able to find it), but be warned that the real case is 1000x more messed up than how it's portrayed in the game. The game is only scratching the surface of what the victim went through. Josef Fritzl is a horrendous criminal, to say the very least.

It's a true story, sadlly. Josef Fritzl was the father. Kept his daughter prisoner under the house for decades and decades. Made her have his children. He literally built the entire place FOR her long before he tricked her to go inside and he locked her in. The layout in the game is precisely how the layout of the real life prison was. Josef told his wife that the daughter ran away. The 'home' beneath the family home was soundproof. When she'd have her dads babies, he took a few and convinced his wife they'd been abandoned babies, so they raised a few of them. Most were kept prisoner with Josef's daughter though. Never saw outside, didn't know a thing about the outside world aside from what their mom would tell them and describe. Thank god they got rescued. Josef got life in prison.

Honestly, I guessed the plot of the game before the first day even ended. It seemed too obvious that the father was lying the whole time and insisting on taking the pills to keep you down there. It ended up being just about as disturbing as I expected. The implications of the story are so disgusting yet I supposed you can't sugarcoat everything in this world. These things do happen in real life after all, as horrific as it is. Hats off to the devs for not cowering away from such topics and spreading some awareness in a sense about this type of thing. In the end, a simple concept can often express the most serious message. Edit: Also, for God sake I just thought about something. i’ve been a fan of horror since the early days of silent hill. i love outlast, ,visage, other varyingly intense shit. none of that has ever truly upset me. but when i got to 27:46, even having already figured out the story, this made my chest and stomach hurt. i lost my wife to suicide in 2020 after she was a victim of her dad in childhood, and she just couldn’t bear the pain and trauma anymore. this shit is more common than anyone wants to think. including lack of care and follow through from law enforcement. fascinating game concept though, i really do have to fully commend the creator for handling the topic in such a calculated and unique way.

I took the route in which you trust the father to continue taking the pills, and that ending alone had me feeling so emotional, and now this ending really closes off the fact that this game is honestly the most intelligently planned out and in depth masterpiece of a game. Bro I realized something that made this even worse. When the “dad” tells the girl to not answer any unfamiliar voices, it’s to prevent any cops from finding her. He makes a password to stop her from talking unless it’s said. Damn, that’s messed up. Edit: I may be over analyzing here, but when the dad tells a story about him narrowly escaping a “monster” he is referring to the police men that almost busted him. So every time the dad mentions a monster, he is referring to the police. Edit 2: Ok last one I swear. Remember when the dad gives The kid a journal? That’s probably to keep tabs on what she’s thinking and if she’s close to seeing through his mirage. God knows what would have happen if the dad checked the journal before the cops rang the door bell….

When you water the plant the girl says "keep growing little one" the dad gives you an apple, and apple sometimes represents temptation and or S3X. The free runner mini game has you moving a square from multiple red ones. Pink probably is the "egg" and the red ones are sperm cells trying to enter into the core.

The game almost had the same energy as Presentable Liberty (if you dont know what that is, i highly recommend cheecking it out). Trapped in a world of your own, you barely know what's going on in the outside world. In the same vein, they are games that can only be truly experienced once, but they leave such an everlasting impact on our views of society and what we define as a "human".

Sadly, it is based on a true story. The father was based on Josef Fritzl, and the MC was based on his daughter Elizabeth. It's extremely tragic, especially when I found out Elizabeth was trapped there for 24 years :(

Holy crap. I just played this game a couple days ago and was genuinely considering recommending it to you, but it slipped my mind. Haven't watched yet so I may edit the comment afterwards, but this game is incredibly dark and while it wasn't 'scary', it was very eerie and the nightmare sections made my hairs stand on edge. Marvelous sound design with it.

Ahaha, I knew essentially what the ending was going to be as soon as the father was adament about the kid taking the pills. This reminds me so much of the movie REPO! The Genetic Opera, where there is a similar plot line with the main character and her father (though admittedly, not with as dark of implications as this one has!). You should give that film a watch if you haven't seen it before.

once you find out the ending, all the seemingly innocuous things suddenly seem off putting. The story the dad told her? Why wouldn’t it be a nice story to help her sleep, instead of a story about how horrifying the outside world is so she’s never tempted to leave. The antidote making her sleepy, despite having barely done anything. Even the game, I interpreted it as the dot being us, and the dots we’re running from being our dad.
