" Personally, if there is no God, then I believe that there is no morality and, if there is a God, then there is absolute morality." Hits the nail right on the head! Good thinking.

In case of bad haircut it is "safe" to say your opinion. Opinion is not an "absolute truth" it may be opposite by the next person. So whenever you say "this is yuk" you are insulting, but when you say "i thing it looks yuk, but it is just my opinion (you are free to do what you want)"

People cannot act morally as actors without a context--but they also cannot act autonomously in a context morally period, since they ARE the context. That is the quantum/time and space issue that affects morality. And that is why it is better to follow moral laws that most agree on that have been rules over time.

What dose it say about the ethics of an individual, in the nazi knocking on the door looking for jews scenario, if the individual is hiding jews and answers the question, "Would it matter what I said?" then steps aside knowing the searchers will not find the people he/she has hidden there?

She is. She has even a whole lecture arguing this,

I might behave disrespectfully but I'm neither going to acknowledge that nor apologise. In fact worse than that, I'm going to make YOU feel my guilt if you take offense. Not a great start?

I can't agree with the bomb scenario. I wouldn't shoot the person despite the circumstances. I wouldn't be able to live with myself knowing I killed a person out of selfishness.

Saying there is no system to compare it with is an easy out. We are already talking about something that is unable to be compared to anything. Belief in God does effect ones reasoning. Though you may come to a similar conclusion it can be for different reasons. I guess to understand that you have to do more than believe in God you have to pray and do all the works that God requires.

A spewing of many words that ultimately lead to nothing, and repeated over and over to the students of Oxford every year. The Ivory Tower is alive and well. BTW, how many angels can dance on a head of a pin?
