Freebooter won five times over the big fences , trained by Bobby Renton and ridden by Jimmy Power , some great National names in there Wotnosun and the massive Monaveen . I always thought the stationary trains and the background chimneys added to the ambiance , they shouldn t have changed the historic unsaddling enclosure , that was racing history .

49 lining up and whilst you don’t see every fence, all fallers i saw go down, got back up. Fences look massive compared to the modern sham race. Freebooter a real Aintree horse, stayed well as they weren’t hanging around. Lord Mildmay having a ride out there as well and the enigmatic Wotnosun attempting to get away but without success. Freebooter looked a bit lame on pulling up after the race but great to see these old races.
