In the end, the one who's really make senses is Zhen Huan. I love this drama still make her character like in Empress In The Palace as a kind heart but with calculated brain and clear eyes also with an old women natural worrying behaviour. She knew Qianlong and Ruyi isn't a "good end match" that's why she's not agree with her because she really can see the end of everything.

Really... what's the point of being Emperor, if at the end of the day... you really can't do much on your own. A lot of his decisions didn't at all come from him & aside from Ruyi & a few others, very few people actually genuinely cared about him. Literally living amongst his enemies. But, I LOVE this show. I understand not a word being said, but I am irrevocably in love with this show & the history behind it. Much respect. I love all the fine details💜

With great power comes with great responsibility. Also his late royal dad taught him that even the emperor can't do things above certain things. Even the dragon seat has it's own problems/limitations.

He’s trying to run a peaceful, fair and a loved reign and legacy. Likewise, he only just ascended the throne. - the empress, noble consort and all the people who were plotting have clan powers that can turn on him. He eventually got stronger. but a good fair ruler needs to surround yourself with great and experienced advisers to make good decisions - but you are alone with the responsibility of making decisions. Trump from the US thought the presidency would be the same way as you think being an emperor would be - but learned he cannot just do what he wants as the senate, congress and justice gets on his way - and even then there is also the people and media etc.

It's just like being the president you think the president have all the answers and he can say we didn't do what he wants but it's not like that it's just like the same thing with the emperor he didn't have the power I thought he had his mother had more power than he did she had more power over his country minds and all over he listened to her whatever she said she he did he was a weak man and he definitely was a man child

So that means the empress dowager has doubted the palace concubines and didn't made the final conclusion about Ruyi. I thought she is unfair but turned out to be not.

She knew it was the Empress group who ordered this. But it was hard to investigate it since the Empress came from a powerful clan. However, I don't agree with the idea of sending Ruyi to the cold palace like they did because she ended up being the target anyway.

@@Dianuxkasfenix to be fair, they thought shed be safe there, they assumed if they "abandoned" her, everyone would leave them alone. Hence why even to Ruyi's best friend, he acted as if he didnt care for Ruyi, it was all an act to try and protect her but it backfired unintentionally.

@@Dianuxkasfenix Killing royal heirs gets you killed. Had Ruyi been kept out of the cold palace, then by the rules, she'd HAVE to pay with her life. And the Emperor knows she didn't, but the 'witnesses' and 'evidence' were pinned against her; it's a very strong case to argue her guilty. The Emperor demoting her to a commoner and banishing her into the cold palace for the rest of her life was to deter those that wanted to cause harm; she wasn't a threat, so why bother with her? She'd suffer more alive than dead. Unfortunately, it did nothing but make it easier to go after her, and the attempts became more frequent, especially when it became clear that she'd come back as a consort. Empress Dowager still had power, so the Emperor couldn't continue the investigation so long as she denied him.

I found out you can buy pretty hair decor like this stuff on shien, so pretty. Once I have enough saved up I want to learn how to do the traditional hair style like the concubines did, my hair is plenty long and thick enough. I think the culture of the concubines is so interesting. Like between the schemes, and the good and changes many of them caused in the real world are truly amazing. Outside the semi-fictional dramas, theres quite a few concubines who made history in their own right!

What makes it worse is that he trust these women over Ruyi who he known since they were children. So many incidents and deaths could've been avoided if he stopped thinking Ruyi had any part in them when the woman stayed in her Palace most of the time and only Hailan really visits her. Consort Ling was ready to throw his reputation to the dogs just to get favor but he had the nerve to say she was better than Ruyi. He also said he fell in love with Consort Rong to Ruyi of all people and expected her to be okay with it but God forbid Ling Yunche saves her life multiple times, walks Yongji home from school, and is friends with Ruyi. Like Consort Rong said he doesn't want anyone else to admire her. He could had sent Ling Yunche away but he rather make him and Ruyi suffer. They are amazing actors and I especially like the acting the Emperor does when he's angry he actually sounds like a angry father, leader, and husband.

But the thing is Ruyi went through a lot of dangerous situations like the snakes and fire. The Emperor knew what was happening in the Cold Palace so instead of releasing her and keeping her contain in a secure Palace with a lot of guards and food testers he kept her in there. Her name may have been cleared in the end but that wouldn't had meant nothing if she died by being poisoned or burned alive. Another thing Hailan is what secured her freedom the Emperor may had let Ruyi out but that doesn't stop the fact that if Hailan didn't do what she did the Emperor would still contain Ruyi in her Palace until he found evidence that proved her innocent which could've taken years.
