A Ryker 600 On the Freeway?! • So What’s It Like..? | TheSmoaks Vlog_1354

We bought a Ryker 600 for our son for Christmas two years ago. He suffered a stroke and can no longer operate a hand clutch or a foot shift of a regular motorcycle. The Ryker seemed perfect for him. I rode the Ryker 600 home 100 miles at night, in the rain and 52 degrees (F) and had a blast. I rode at speeds from 65 mpg to 80 mph and it seemed to have plenty of power. The three cylinder 900 cc I'm sure is quicker, but the 600cc did just fine. I've test drove Gold Wing trikes and didn't care for them. I test drove the Spyder RT and didn't care for them either. The F3 Spyders handled better than the RT but I didn't buy one. I've owned two HD TriGlides and they ride like an old dump truck. The Ryker was much easier to steer and with a better ride. I even thought about buying a Ryker 600 for us, but I'm 70 years old and my wife is crippled and I don't think she could get on the passenger seat of a Ryker because it is so much higher than the rider's seat.. And I can't find a dealer who already has a passenger seat installed on one to find out for sure. Either way, the Ryker 600 is a blast to ride, nothing but FUN.

I really, really, really enjoy our Ryker 600. The sound of a twin is much more appealing to me than a triple and the 600 doesn’t lack in power. Pleasing exhaust note with a healthy thump at idle combined with a smooth suspension and a supple ride out on the interstate makes for a great motorcycle. Adding a windshield and floorboards makes it even more fun to ride. Thanks Shawn!

Hey mate don’t know if your see this comment , YOU ,,, your videos helped me make the decision to buy the Ryker 600, it’s all I could afford as being disabled I needed auto , 3 wheels and the accs I wanted to make it a bit more comfortable to ride then a Ryker new in New Zealand is $15500 plus screen,max mount etc your getting close to $19000 . My very first ride the day I bought it , I rode 1000+ miles Christchurch back to Auckland 80% open road highway took me 2 days , through earthquake wrecked roads, over mountains . Anyway my friend keep up good work

Yesterday evening, July 30, on my side of the country, I decided to google the 2020 Spyders just to see what information was available. I noticed a commentary that Can-Am Spyders may have a new motor for the 2020 models. Yes, I know about rumors as well as you do, but it was interesting to see there may be a 1630cc, 4 cylinder engine coming in them. There were some patent drawings of the new design for the 2020 Spyders as well and I was surprised to see the drive train may be a shaft drive. One can only hope; right? My only concern about the new Spyders is what price those new bikes are going to have. I'm smelling a price line of 35K and up. I hope not.

They are a fun ride, but you better have a full-face helmet when you go! I test rode a 900 a couple months ago with my half-helmet on and my eyes were watering too much to make it a long ride. Oh man, I can already notice a big difference in sunrise and sunset times here at work, and I don't like it. Summer is my favorite season and I'm not ready for it to be over! Peace and love.

The only thing I don't like about the two Rykers is the CVT. I bet they're fun. Triples sound so much nicer. Who needs a screen? What was wrong with it?

Hey buddy I know this video was uploaded a while ago I must have missed it. There is only a few cases where a Can-Am Ryker was released from the factory without be updated software that most others would have. I'm sure you've already found out this information. My Ryker 900 Ace had the same problem. When I took it back over to motosport Hillsboro where I bought it they plugged in the buds system and it had never had an update since August of 1999. This is the information that will show up is it was never updated from the factory. Mine also came up with an ! It would either say VVT fault or transmission service is required. After update to the newest firmware available through the buds system it fix the issue and has not came back... Anywaysknowing that this is an older video I'm sure you've already found this out if not hopefully that information will help.. have a good day buddy. PS. I'm the guy in Vancouver with the blue and black Can-Am Ryker 900.

Love all your videos!! Would like your professional opinion please. I'm san 81 yo Vietnam Vet and looking for a nice pre owned 3 wheeler. No freeway riding and no second passenger..Just me. In your opinion what would you suggest. A 10 or so old Spyder or a 4 to 5 yo Ryker?? My budget is about 7 to 8 thousand dollars. Lots of comments that older Spyders should be avoided? Thanks Dave

Did you notice any difference in performance on the highway between the this Ryker and your Rally Edition? EDIT: I see you noticed a suspension difference, the Rally being a little stiffer. Is there anything else noticeable?

Yes it’s plenty ! It’s very fast 💨 it’s almost like the 900 until it hit to top speed. 900 is about top speed is 115- maybe 120 but I only went 115 i seems to go when I test it

BRP raised the price from $8,499 up to $10,699 for the 600 and $12,999 for the 900. I'm curious as to why they raised the price over $2,000 for the base model. The F3 now starts at $19,999 and I'm just wondering why they raised the prices.

All the Ryker’s use the same key, which is individually programmed to the unit during setup & PDI…. There are learner keys used for the Ryker’s in the training courses, but those are not available to the public. At least not here in the US… Thanks!!

Nope. Look up the specs! There is a little difference in top speed between the 600 and the 900.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the way he does his videos! It's always nice to see and hear how things are going in there part of the world. And when he gets to the point of the video he is very educated and truthful with his viewers! The Ryker 600 did handle the Highway just fine. the Yellow does make it look different in a nice way. I have no doubt You'll figure out what the alarm is all about. Shawn really enjoy your channel. I purchased my new Ryker Rally 3 weeks ago and I was pretty excited until an issue came up few times and it’s been at the dealer for the past week. My handle bar keeps loosening up and goes off center by about a couple of inches after so many bumps on the highway and I don’t mean pot holes just regular riding. The alignment is dead straight. It’s a head scratcher. And wanted to know if you’d come across anything like that. They are changing the whole mounting assembly. More details in my video kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIGuqaepqJqZfsU. We haven't had an issue like this with any Rykers sold. Sounds like the dealer is doing the right thing, as there must be a blemish in the tapered fit between the steering shaft and handlebar stay. The torque isn't very high, but the fitment is tight enough that a special steering puller tool is required to pull them apart... Hope you have a speedy and satisfying repair from the guys! Thanks!!

@@garageofslotcars good to know. My wife is looking at the ryker and I was concerned that the 600 wouldn't keep up on the highway. Here in Phoenix if you're doing less than 80mph on the highway you're in trouble
