Regarding the power measurement at the wattmeter, 70 watts is the full 65 W delivered to the machine at over 90% efficiency so actually in spec :D

Regarding the power supply, the specs are for output power not input power. Most switchers typically sport around 90% efficiency. I want to make one of those into a server.

The Ryzen 5 5600H is a decent chip for emulation, and it can run most older titles (5/10 years ago) at 1080. This is a decent package for older games and emulation!

I recommend getting a better power supply for this. Running it under load with multiple drives or USB devices will cause it to crap out and it's down to the cheap unbranded 65W power supply. I'm now using it with an old 120W laptop power supply and it's not crashed since! Make sure it's a 19V PSU with a 5.5mm*2.5mm centre positive connector. I'd go for at least 90W. The TDP for the Ryzen 5600H chip alone is 45W (up to 54W), although it looks like it may be configured to 35W. The BIOS is old school 90s jank and pretty limited. The user selectable TDP setting only shows options up to 25W which is poor. The BIOS for my unit is from March 2023. Anyway, the build quality is good considering it's all plastic and the fan doesn't get loud at all. It's audible, but much quieter than my old i5 NUC 8. The NVME heatsink is quite large and it's nice to see they included one. Ive not looked at the CPU cooling yet, but temps and fan noise seem fine (max I've seen so far is 74C). Minisforum claims it uses liquid metal on the cooler, but I'd take this with a pinch of salt based on previous reviews of their systems by well known KZbinrs. Minisforum even include a leaflet that tells you not to mess with the CPU cooler which I've not seen before (hiding something?). It seems to work well after swapping out the power supply for something with more headroom, but only time will tell.

Mini PC manufacturers should take note here. Adding a PCI Express slot with some slight case modifications would make it so the end-user could add an external GPU and power supply for it. Throw in a riser cable and these would sell like hotcakes. 🤓

The VESA mounting bracket is so you can place the computer where you cannot plug in a jump drive. Why laud a power brick that uses GaN in a 1920 vintage circuit. GaN in a 2023 circuit would be much cheaper.

I see these mini pcs and wonder why we don't have a few chipset-less mATX/ITX motherboard offerings. The real estate & BOM could be saved, The extra USB & SATA may be overkill/unused anyways, and presumably the dedicated PCIe lanes could be returned for unmultiplexed/standard PCIe or M.2 config.

Honestly was looking at the Minisforum N40 on sale for $150 right now and I wish people with good internet would just buy those and use GeForce Now with them. Not an option for me cause I enjoy emulating console games and modding games but I suspect 90% of people out there could get the same experience their getting out of their gaming PC. If more people did it PC hardware prices would not be at the insane levels they are today.

The vega 7 equivalent is the Ge force 660 so YES it can handle games , not everyone play the latest AAA games , moreover if you have a good 720p monitor , or a good 720p TV , you gonna have a really good screen and the 1080p resolution will be useless and won't make any difference ...... So indeed if you're a hardcore gamer , if you feel lonesome and sad if you don't have a 3000 $ PC with enough RGB lights to make you feel you're on LSD , this little mini PC can harm you : it's dangerous for your health because you're already a little bit crazy ....... "This PC can't handle gaming " says the guy while playing on it , this is paradoxical ..... If you can play GTA5 with a N100 , you can play it with a 5 5600H Ryzen , and GTA5 IS a game .....

4:13 weird that my aging 4790k on base clock still does quadruple the single and double the multi score. With that said, mine also eats a lot more power. edit: scratch that, 450/2350, my cpu-z was not working correctly at all.
@TheOfficialT3Si
@TheOfficialT3Si Жыл бұрын
Are you sure about this? Single core score should be similar and multi core should be way in favour of the 5600H. Based on the CPU-Z benchmark charts a 4790k scores 2677 in multi thread while the 5600H scores 3776. I am guessing these are averages and the score in the video is because of a larger power budget than usual.

@@TheOfficialT3Si Yeah, turns out my cpu-z copy was on the fritz, big time. It was showing 2k for single. And youtube also did not notify me of this reply, because why would it.
