I used to think like you, but to be completely honest I entirely lost my faith in people, especially online. I don't trust anyone saying "X did this, x did that", nor do I give anyone the benefit of the doubt. The abuse of people's good will and kindness towards the apparent plight of someone, by individuals who use false rape allegations/assault allegations/death threat allegations etc etc as a means to an ends has rendered someone like me completey apathetic to these kinds of ordeals. I still remember when Zoe Quinn made allegations of sexual assault against some autistic Game Dev via Twitter(instead of going to the authorities, like in this scenario: which is BTW the FIRST THING you should do in these instances), which has apparently cancelled him to the point of him killing himself. This is not to say I think Josh is guilty/innocent, or that METHOD's actions have not been pretty suspect and damning on their own, but simply that trusting people in modern times has been thoroughly corrupted.

Current stats in England and Wales is 1 in 65 rape offenders are charged, the police are required to have hard proof, just because Josh wasn't charged doesn't mean he is innocent, it just means it didn't reach the CPS level of evidence required for prosecution... Jury's don't like rape cases, this is a problem in our society that has made it so that barely any rape cases without hard proof go any further than investigation level...

If word gets back to the suspect, or potential witnesses, they can be tipped off & destroy evidence & it can cause a loss of the whole investigation. Method probably COULDN'T tell their colleagues

The internet has been my sanctuary for almost 15 years now, I started using a PC for KZbin, RuneScape and typing school assignments. Without the internet, I don't know if I would have made it to where I am today. I am struggling, though. Life is crushing me from all sides. I can rely on the internet to escape in many ways but it isn't enough anymore to keep away the realization that I need to get a job and license and go back to college to graduate. I am so scared of what the future has in store for me. I don't know where I will find a job that is anxiety friendly. I don't have the motivation to search around and call places. My best idea is the library or an animal shelter, I worked at a cat shelter years ago and I enjoyed it. I just want to succeed. I am so sad. I need someone to guide me and talk me through this, how to be an adult. 😭💔

2:46 of course they will play it down or just not talk about it or go into details.. They can't. It's no different than any other job, a company and it's management/hr/supervisors/etc cannot talk about any private details, any disputes, any investigations, or disciplinary actions about it's employees (both current and former). It's against the law and is grounds for a lawsuit if they do. A good example of employee privacy is how I work at an Amazon warehouse where there have been literal confirmed positive COVID-19 cases, however other than Amazon letting us know this, they wont tell anyone who the individuals were, what shifts they worked, what area in the warehouse they worked in, etc.. not because they are attempting to hide it or sweep it under the rug or down play it... but it's because they can't, regardless of how much we believe we deserve the right to know for our own health and safety and the potential that our own lives could be at risk, it is simply against the law and violates the employee's right to privacy.

Fair point. I feel like the key factor here is that the girl did go to the police and reported him, but they failed to prove him guilty. Had the police had the success, nothing of this shit would've happened. I hate that people make too many assumptions about this whole situation and rely on their feeligs too much rather than accounting for their rational reasoning. A lot of the info is not accessible, you can't really tell how guilty everyone involved in the story is. There's literally angry people hating on the employees of the org right now, claiming they should've done something cuz they knew, when in reality the crazy mob was only told that "heads of Method had been told about the investigation", not that "everyone knew everything". It is good that Josh has been exposed, but at the expense of literal dozens of people getting their livelihood endangered by cutting off their income from losing their jobs? In this global pandemic situation? Fuck me if that is rational course of action.

@@Fr33mx only issue too with MethodJosh is that both parties were in the UK where age of consent is 16, And while she does make the point that if she had sent him nude pictures, etc that would be illegal as you must be 18 to do that, however in this case she didn't. So overall, no laws were broken as they were having consensual conversations regardless of his sexual, lewd, stereotypical horny guy talk, which isn't a crime in the UK since she admitted right at the start of the conversation she was 16. Furthermore, you have to ask yourself, if she was truly offended by his advances, at no point did she ask him to stop, or do what any truly offended or victimized girl would do.. block him and stop talking to them. instead she continued to chat with him well beyond the initial advances, months deep.. Even doing activities together (running raids together, hanging out in wow, etc). Because of the later, i'd call it a clear case of Cancel Culture or MeToo, as any truly offended or victimized individual would have reported someone asap, at the very least end the conversation, ignore them, and/or block them.. not continue to chat with them regularly for months on end, do activities together, etc.

@@Fr33mx as for Poopernoodle, that one is hard to judge on, especially considering that authorities dismissed it, and that's BS about the part when she talked about no witnesses/video.. as there are plenty of cases of rapist going to trial and prison with none of that type of evidence, based on victim testimony alone. so that should tell you something (most likely determined a consensual encounter but she regretted it after the fact).. Then the parts about 13 or 14 y/os, everyone is pretty much ageless online unless they state or make public their age, considering the twitlongers, they did briefly mention their age, for the 13 y/o, but also mentions how he didnt believe her, but other than that, looks like she did the right thing, unlike the one i mentioned in my previous reply, she shot him down and ended the coversation when it got too inappropriate.. So overall dude sounds like a moronic stereotypical lonely horny dude desperate for an e-girl. And these girls, especially the 13 year old are obviously just jumping on the metoo/cancel culture wagon which is clear by their use of the typical cancel culture terminology such as accusing them of "grooming" her as seen in her twitlonger that is pretty much a meme these days.

I see a lot of people trying to dismiss the rape accusation purely because it was a dropped case but what you have to remember is that proving rape is incredibly hard ESPECIALLY in a situation like this where there is basically no witnesses on either side. What we do know for a fact is that he's been accused of doing creepy shit before this and the girl has clearly had some trauma after visiting him (her breakdown after returning home) not to mention he was acting incredibly creepy with her on stream. I know that ''fake'' cancel culture outrage is the obvious knee jerk reaction for many people here but this went far beyond just an accusation, there are multiple people giving detailed description of his character, her story checks out with the livestreams and he has literally not even attempted to defend himsel, as such even without an actual conviction its very obvious that he deserves to be cancelled at the very least. Like, I get that everyone is trying to say ''NO PROOF fake allegations ruin lives!!11'' but so does rape, its just simply unfair to completely dismiss her claims purely because there was no video/witness/physical proof, which is ultimately the only thing that can prove this type of crime 100%, and then completely ignore the mountains of evidence suggesting he was exactly the kind of person to pull this shit. Also you'd have to be genuinely autistic not see to see he was clearly fucked in the head.
@rosco34 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but canceling someone because he might be a rapist/abuser is stupid. Let at least the investigations conclude if the messages are fake or not, if the pictures are fake or not. You don't necessarily need a 100% proof which is why we have 2 standards for guilty (the resonable doubt for criminal and balance of probabilities for civil matters). At least meet the latter before destroying someone's life.
@talic1824 жыл бұрын
Uhm No way to prove rape? I am not so sure you know what you are talking about. Rape does in fact leave actual physical evidence, and I can give you hospital nurses who would tell you exactly whats up. Did he message her? Maybe. Is he creepy or strange? Sure, but just because he isn't "normal" doesn't make him a rapist or molester or sexual deviant. Like the other dude commented, if there is an investigation, let it conclude. Preach is acting prematurely based on accusations not fact, and facts is what keeps us from locking up and destroying many mens lives that where in FACT innocent. I get that there are some fckdup men in this world, but you also have to admit that there are women out there that regretted a decision they made or just want to destroy someones life just for the lulz.
@rosco34 жыл бұрын
@@talic182 I would just like to add that I don't think Preach is acting prematurely but not because of Josh or whatever he may or may not have done. Method literally lied to him, this completely breaks the trust you have on your employer and I don't see how he could have continued to work with them. Maybe some stuff he said was a little premature but distancing himself from Method wasn't one IMO.
@taycom9624 жыл бұрын
@@talic182 Uh huh, yeah nowhere did I say that it doesn't leave physical evidence, just that it was clearly not available in this case. By the way i'd love to have you explain the stats on actual convictions when it comes to reported rape in the UK (where this took place) only being at 5.7% Surely if any hospital nurse can tell you ''exactly whats up'' that number would be a lot higher wouldn't it? Unless of course its not so easy to find actual physical evidence and everything else is obscured when dealing with victims whos first, and very natural, instinct is to compulsively clean themselves. Also to my knowledge the investigation has already concluded due to lack of said evidence, just like thousands of other ones for the very same reason. Dude got away from any real repercussions.
@thristanebben89024 жыл бұрын
And then the investigation ends, Josh was actually innocent and we all acted like fools and talked crap for nothing. Or not and this is one of the cases where there’s actual degeneracy, backed up by actual facts and evidence. All i know, Complexity-Limit has to be partying in secret. Consenting adults put themselves in these situations, things like this happen. People can either take responsibility for their actions or not. Whatever happens, i hope justice is done.

I'm not familiar with the situation but from the sounds of it, the right thing for them to do would be to hire someone to stay with the guy through the entire event to watch him. Might be a bit conspicuous but wouldn't require breaching any privacy laws while making sure nothing could happen. Plus if the guy somehow manages to do anything creepy during the event, you'd only have more evidence for the investigation.

It bothers me when people say "couldn't you tell someone was (fill-in the criminal allegation)". All of the serial killers in the world and people still say "how could you not know". Well, because people see only what they want to see AND only what the cr wants them to see. No...you can't tell that someone's a criminal or alleged criminal. Transparency is ALWAYS better than covering it up or trying to ignore it. Even if the allegations ended up being false (I'm speaking in general terms not this case), your followers and your staff and other contractors should know about allegations and that they are being taken seriously and being investigated. Covering up or ignoring something...makes you and your company look complicit, enabling even more bad behavior.

preach had his kids at those events. you bet that he asked and that this is very personal. i get that this situation was difficult for method. i get why they would not want to pull the trigger too fast on a member of the team without hard evidence. once you officially distance yourself, those kind of allegations inevitably ruin someone's life no matter if true or not. something like that never goes away. BUT: they needed to have had him benched the second the first whisper of an allegation was made known to them. keep him on the team but do not place him - without any explanation or a made up one (time reasons whatever) - until this is very VERY thoroughly cleared up. having him continue to actively play and even attend events, downplaying the situation? that was not just irresponsible, it was flat out braindead. this kind of mistake is not something an org like that can recover from. i feel for sco and the others in some way. it looks like they just where not ready and/or able to believe and deal with such allegations against someone they knew. that stain of inaction in the face of something this bad will stick with them for a long time, even though they did literally nothing. career death by association is a very real thing for someone who works in this field. in the end their plight is self made. their inaction very likely lead to more victims of that predator. what a horrible end to a group who clearly had a lot of fun, was made up mostly of decent people i am sure and who i enjoyed watching ...
