We really enjoy seeing those vintage airplanes. Thanks Jay! The first thing that came to mind, when I saw the Sabre being modified and reassembled, was assembling model airplanes, when I was a child. Same concept, bigger scale, but they can't make any mistakes, ZERO.

If you enjoy this series of videos, the best way to show your appreciation to JayZ is to click on an ad every once in a while. I'm not a shill but just someone who appreciates his efforts and would like to see those efforts rewarded in some small way.

I'm always amazed at how a jet's sleek outsides mask how basically "mechanical" it really is inside... nuts, bolts, cables, pipes, hinges, bulkheads, rivets, patches etc., who knows, maybe even some lost spare change. Great video, thanks.

This vid reminds me of the "Good Old Days" at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo when I was a teenager/airport pest they put to work cleaning floors, running fire bottles and pulling chocks. As annoying as the know-it-alls can be, please don't forget how many of us love the vids you make and sincerely appreciate all of the effort you put into teaching us about these amazing machines. Don't let them get you down, and don't feel bad for correcting them like their parents should have. Thank you. Heath

No lost extra pieces anywhere. What I can't show is the many months of careful work by professional aviation personnel. A car built this way would cost millions.

Yes, it was sunny Chino. I stuck to the airport mostly, because I didn't want to get lost. The Southern California freeways really move, and I felt like I was in the movie Death Race! Jet City ( FSJ ) has a total population about the same as any given shopping mall in SoCal.

before i became an A&P i went to my home town of Chino California in which i was 12 when i moved. i went back for this museum i used to live so close to but never went. so in 2021 i went and really had a blast with my friends, and while learning about turbine engine theory in school i really started to apricate and enjoy ur videos and now im completely being mind fucked seeing you had worked on the sabre that really made me also fall in love with early jet engines. love this context man, keep it up.

Hi, I think everyone was trying to know about you teacher, I could say California freeways are very easy to drive. Some times you can drive up to 95 mph and get no tickets. I used to drive there several times per month, always something new. My instructor used to ask me where you want to go, said, chino! Practice landing a 172 was awesome,could see the cows at landing, very exciting! If God allows me, will see you at jet city someday. I got tired of this heat in here! Wish you the best!

great video as usual . hope the little time out helps with cabin feaver !!! would'nt be great to have some one restore to flying state a cf 100 and orendas type 17
@AgentJayZ
@AgentJayZ 11 жыл бұрын
That would be a great Canadian project. Unfortunately, the looks of the CF100 are not as inspiringly beautiful as her younger, extinct sister. One of the most graceful, powerful and beautiful aircraft of all time was the CF105. Rumor has it that one escaped the torch and survives in secrecy.

Heard that rumour too, I think it originally flew with only one Iroquois fitted, too, as was the habit with new aircraft and engines. One engine you know, one you don't. It would be a very quaint project to restore an aircraft that way, with one known engine and one test engine, but if you have a 105 and know someone with even a single Iroquois.... well why not?

I'm very sorry to hear that the last video upset you (I'm guessing the old jet thrust controversy is the one). I may have been one of the people who upset you, for which I apologize for the misunderstanding. I have tremendous respect for you and I have learned a great deal about jet engines from you. I'm an electrical engineer who has worked with UAVs so I like to dabble in fluid flow/aerodynamics but that doesn't mean I know what I am doing/talking about in that area!

That's a P-47D, looks to be a -22 or earlier. Curtiss also built some in small numbers that were designated P-47G. They were only used a training aircraft in the USA. That's a nice looking Sabre engine, btw. I'll bet the P-59 engines are very interesting too.

no doupts the cf105 was wonderfull machine but at least we can find nice airfraim and parts for the clunks it's part of our eritage and it would be wonderfull to see one in airshow around the country if i had the money and the skill i would do it but i have none of those so ...

Welcome back, Jay. I kinda missed you, but totally understand about needing that break. It is surprising to me that all the thrust is taken up by those 2 mounting points. I was expecting at least 4 points, and was expecting the mount points to look a LOT more reinforced than they do. One question - do you know of a rough estimate of when you guys will have the Orenda 14 finished?
@deSloleye
@deSloleye 11 жыл бұрын
What amazes me is how little there appears to be to join the tail onto the front. Are there other mounts on the Orenda 14? It just looks like there's so little to hold the two ends of the aircraft together, I start to wonder if the engine is part of the structure as well. That said, some of the really thin nuts you fit in those engines take a tremendous strain, so perhaps I underestimate the ability of the metal it's made of.

Hi, I was oing to ask you where did you go? I was going to say you went to Chino, California. I went to there hundreds of times, Almost everey other week. From Norwalk to there is easy. I cried by not been in there all these 4 years! It is a little hot in the desert, but in here is a lot more hoter! If you have more videos of there, please can you post them? Thanks for coming back!

That is a specialized race model, built to go on smooth ice ovals. it wouldn't even move on snow. Plus it's a 1979 model, so it will look a bit dated. It's a classic !

I, and certainly my dad, agree with you. He gets so heated up about the Arrow that no one ever gets him started twice on that subject. He says Dief's role in the tragedy is what turned him into a lifelong Liberal. I guess his anger has rubbed off on me because I can scarcely think about it without turning red in the face. Wonderful video as always. Thanks for the behind the scenes peek at this restoration project. Your show is much more compelling programming than anything on TV :D

Do you need to take the engine out to service it? Eg change oil. Under normal usage, how often would it need to be serviced? And how often would you need to take the engine out? I'm guessing it's a little more work than changing the oil on a Honda Civic on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
@AgentJayZ
@AgentJayZ 10 жыл бұрын
Changing the oil in a Sabre is easy. Easier than in a car. In a combat jet the engine needs to have an inspection after 400 hours of flight. It's not so bad taking the Orenda out of a Sabre... I made a video of the installation process... actually a slide show. It's called "Sabre Engine Installation Slideshow"... Imagine that !

I wonder, compressor, compresses the air approximately at, enviroment temperature, 25 atu in to the combustion chamber, after that, fuel ignited and temperature rises 2000 C degree, than pressure rises toooo much. why combustion chamber does not blow up? whether the jet reaction depends on inner pressure or not?
@AgentJayZ
@AgentJayZ 6 жыл бұрын
The pressure does not rise with combustion. The gases expand due to heating, but their pressure does not rise. It does not rise.

AgentJayZ Thank you for your answer. I thought so. Because, the exhaust through turbines does allows expanded gases in to the atmosphere freely. But i wanted to hear from you. This was a big question on my mind. Thank you again.
