The 2 year plan is currently (June ‘24) £1568.40, and the 3 year plan is currently £2320.80. The prices for the QV have gone up considerably to the extent that if your labour rates at your local aren’t that high it might be worth it but If you’re in central London then it might be worth comparing prices baring in mind that they might increase over the life of the service plan. HI Ed, I can't believe the Alfa has gone, but we look forward to seeing what is coming next. A Giulia QV is out of my price range here in Australia but I do have a 2015 Giulietta QV manual which I bought new and have and still love. Red has clocked up 193,000Km and the only issue I've had in that time, and still have, is the aircon on the passenger side will blow any temperature you like as long as it is hot. My Alfa mechanic asked if it works on the driver's side, yes I said and his response was well don't worry about it then! Daily duties have been taken over by a 2017 Discovery Sport TD150SE which is very comfortable. I bought this whilst recovering from surgery for an aneurysm. I'm still looking forward to seeing a run to Italy in the Maserati 3200GT, it is after all Maserati's 110th birthday this year.

I enjoyed that video. You tell the story of ownership and the highs and lows that come with it very well. For me the only Alfa Romeo I’ve ever owned was close to 40 years ago. I recall going to Malcolm Templetons dealership in Ballymena one Saturday morning in search of a replacement for a Escort Mk2 1600 Sport. I bought an Alfasud 15Ti and had great fun with that car for a couple of years. It too was a great driving experience even if it did end up as rotten as a pear. In fact, by a stroke of good fortune there was a power cut at the Three Oaks auction in Aghadowey the night I sold it and the half light from the only torchlight available helped me achieve a decent selling price. 😀 The modern Giulia model is a terrific looking car and yours sounded fantastic too👍

Hi Ed, Thanks for sharing your experience & passion. I have just taken the leap here in Sydney Australia & it’s partly your fault!. A MY21 (Series 2) QV in Verde Montreal (Green) It was a private sale from the previous owner & this was his second QV.Haven’t had a chance to get out of town to open it up properly yet but it can put a smile on my dial just driving to the shops😊 Previous drives nave been BMW M135i & Audi S5, but the QV is in a different league!!!

So che la nuova QV 2024, limitatamente al mercato europeo ha un bel differenziale meccanico e modifiche alle sospensioni e all'assetto, molto più vicino allo stile di guida del modello GTA, oltre a qualche cavallo in più, poca cosa a dire la verità. Comunque un giornalista alfista molto critico, dalle nostre parti, ha promosso il cambiamento di assetto, anche se non hanno riportato i valori dell'angolo di ackermann che avevano i primi modelli fino al 2019, le migliori per la precisione dello sterzo. Alcuni proprietari si lamentarono del saltellamento in fase di manovra nei parcheggi, per questo motivo dai modelli 2020 hanno modificato l'angolo di ackerman, rendendo lo sterzo lievemente meno diretto e il saltellamento e la rumorosità in manovra scomparirono........comunque parlo di differenze che solo un pilota esperto a velocità sostenuta noterebbe

Sorry to hear you’re selling up. Are you sure it’s the right decision?? It’ll be a future classic and last of its kind (in terms of engine/handling etc!). As you own her outright seems like a car to put aside and wait. I was in Milton Keynes on Friday morning and came back home to Stevenage by some back roads, all in Race Mode in my Stelvio Quadrifoglio and oh boy what a drive. I’m sure you’ll come back with something amazing but you might always hanker after another Quadrifoglio!!!!

The XKR is so much more ‘ grown up’. The QV is just a little ‘scamp’. The Jag has an elegance, think old money V new money. Both deliver in their own way. Ed

I bought a 21 plate Giulia QV 3 months ago after watching your videos to replace a 16 plate ageing A45- so i can understand the financial decision even though i also loved that little A45. Could i pick your brain a little more on the QV? Do you think the 3 year Mopar service plan is still on sale? It can't be puchased with Mopar directly anymore by the looks of it and both Mopar and the dealers are passing me between themselves with no outcome! Thanks!

They could go up further in the next 12 months granted but at those prices I think a few more phonecalls are in order with the independent dealers around London - no official stamp in the book though but their work and reviews seem to be top notch. @Back_Road_Hero Veloces @ around £1,200. They said the parts are super expensive that's the problem now. Another independent mentioned with low mileage they wouldn't even change the aux belt at year 4! - but skip that at your own resale value peril I suppose! Does seem that the cheap servicing game is up..

It’s only an aux belt. Worst case is your water pump and alternator stop working. No threat to the engine valves etc. I’d certainly delay the 8 year aux belt to 10years on the proviso that it was done at 4-5 years. I don’t think it would make much difference for value.

Hi. It’s a daily driver. Of course I drive it occasionally as intended but you can’t do that everywhere. 95% of my driving is on the motorway. Hope this helps explain. Ed

Hi Ed, a sad day indeed. Thanks for all your Alfa content which I have enjoyed immensely. I don't plan to ever sell my GQ. In fact, I don't plan to buy another brand new car again and not only because they are likely to be EVs, but also because cars are made worse with every generation. I don't like how separated the driver has become from feeling any sensation of movement or noise or feedback. I don't like the mobile iPad look with nasty, unfit for purpose, touchscreens and common functions hidden deep in menus. I don't like the beeping at you all the time modern cars do. I don't like having to switch off an ever-growing list of things (while you can) every time you start your journey, and then again after you've stopped at the shop or the post-box and then again at the petrol station. Plus, of course, they all look the same slab-sided, small-windowed ugly boxes. Anything from the 1990s to the mid 2010s is the sweet-spot. Thankfully, there'll be a large parc of great used care for some time to come as long as classic cars are not legislated against too hard. I think you'll miss the Alfa until you get another one like so many have done before you! Good luck regardless!

Actually... the Giorgio platform is EV capable, but new CEO wanted to break the link to the past and so, Stellantis caused it to be renamed *STLA Large* (colloquially know as Giorgio Evo). Just look at the related, electrified Maserati already available.
