A school in Eastern Europe is first bilingual school in the region

Strong business links between Hungary and China have prompted an increased interest in Mandarin. A school in Budapest is fueling this interest by being the first bilingual school in Eastern Europe. #ChinaEurope2024

To be able to communicate in Mandarin puts Hungarians in an advantageous position when holding a meeting, or conducting a business negotiation. Why? Let me use a real example. Most Chinese who have done business with the west such as the US, Australia, do have a reasonably good handle on English. But it can't be said about the Americans and Australians. So when Chinese business people conversed n Mandarin, westerners have no idea what the Chinese are talking. Question is...why don't Americans, British and Australians learn Mandarin? Well...they believe that it is NOT necessary for them to do so because they are the the superior ones. When you ask them ... "Why don't you learn to speak Chinese language?" They would answer..."Why should I ?"

We don't learn mandarin for the exact reason that you stated, we are superior, the inferiors have to learn our langauge and submitt to us, otherwise they can go back to be a 3 word country.

Many Anglos don't even bother with any foreign language, let alone Chinese.

@@pbworld7858 I met many Europeans through my sport. I am rather surprised that the certain group of them know many languages other than their mother tongue. Germans, Italians, Belgium, Swed, Swiss, etc. Interestingly, British tourists most know only English. They learned an extra language because they found it necessary to have it in Europe when they moved around.

You can basically divide the West into three groups: Anglos, Latin, East Europeans. The Anglos comprise of Britain and her four former colonies (Five Eyes) with their superiority complex and racism over the rest of the world. East Europeans have had contact with East Asian people for a long time. The Mongols invaded Eastern Europe as far as Hungary and Poland. East Europeans do not carry the baggage of colonialism and racism of the Anglos in their relationship with the Chinese.

Here in the west of Hungary people use German.

german was number 1 in europe thats why, but since nord stream is blown up nearly all german companies went to setup shop in china for cheap energy.
