A Sekonda actually worth buying?

SEKONDA 1395 Chronograph watch UNBOXING and first impressions.
£89.99rrp, (often for way less) BUT value for money is not the only measure of a nice watch. This watch to me looks awesome! But, what’s it like when seen in the “flesh” for the first time? This video shows me giving very first impressions of things as I look over the watch for the first time!

Worth noting Sekonda, Accurist, Rotary and others are all now Chinese owned. I just picked up another Sekonda "Navitimer" clone (3407) from Amazon for just £22.99, not sure how long it will last, but it has a 2 year warranty & for that money you can't really go wrong....i wouldn't want to pay £100 for a Chinese quartz watch though...

i have loads of watches from rolex to petak and be honest i bought one and put a goldish nato strap on it and it gets more looks than almost every other watch and for £ 90 the style be honest is just as good as a watch 10grand

I can’t thank you enough for showing us affordable watches. I’m so sick of the other crowing on about how great a $8k watch is. They are really just an adornment that tells time. Who am I trying impress other than myself. Most people I associate with, admittedly I don’t wear an ascot or a monocle and wipe my own ass, only know of Rolex so 100 quid watch that looks great is great

Cracking video again, beautiful watch👍 Loved it so much I found it for sale at H Samuel yesterday £89.99 with 30% discount so got it for £67 absolute bargain. Looks so good on my 7 1/4 inch wrist, not too big, I think it looks just right, thank you. 👍👍 Just wish I could share photos to show you how good it looks on my average wrist, keep up the good work Dan.

I’ve had me eye on this one after seeing the advertising. Looking for a yellow watch but not sure that this is the one. I think Rotary are doing a yellow coloured diver too so need to look for a review on that. I’d appreciate a full review on this one if that’s your intention.

My kids have bought me a few Sekondas for Xmas prezzies because they’re affordable and good looking watches - value for money wise? - honestly Casio will give you way more - nonetheless Sekonda is Britain’s best selling high street watch brand with good customer service - not an enthusiasts brand - more an Everyman brand but nice to see something different reviewed

Love the dial colour & textures and the case finishing looks v/good for the price as well. I like the red version as well. It's a pity the hands aren't a bit longer but ... overall, it looks a solid option for someone with a larger wrist, who wants a budget watch with an original design. Cheers!

Yeah my first chronograph was Michael Kors last year Also 45 mm and the sub dial was for the chronograph I actually kind of prefer that because it’s disconcerting seeing that large secondhand just sitting there you think your battery is dead lol.

I bought this from Amazon for £41.99, (on sale). They're usually around £60. Got it purely because of the dial which is a really nice matt golden colour. Put it on a chunky leather strap with white stitching and it looks great. Probably wouldn't suit anyone with a wrist smaller than 7 inches. The chrono is functional, lume is pretty poor but I really like the look of it. Well worth a look if you can pick it up for less than £50. 👍

I don't find the hands too undersized on this one. Is the 24 hour dial complication part of the chronograph? Don't think they need the date on this. Otherwise; I like it.

Nice unboxing video and you are spot on with your impressions of the style of the watch. But I would say save your reviewing effort for something more useful. Between the short hands and the non-chrono main seconds hand, this watch is a non-starter for me😉

I'm a big fan of chronographs, and think this is lovely, however the foolish snob in me says if it had a different name on the dial I'd be tempted, and the weight would be an issue, however you hit the nail on the head , it's a fashion watch, and £90 you could buy the Lorus auto you reviewed! However looks alone it's cool looking 🙂

Very nice. I like the yellow colour. I have two sekonda's in my watch collection, one from the 80's and one from the 90', still working well, thanks for showing. Wonder, if one could mod it with a Saphine Crystal. Cheers!

I have a Fossil Decker with a similar small seconds chrono and a fixed Tachy bezel. Neither is ever used. I also have a Parnis Daytona chrono with the large seconds and Tachy bezel. That isn't used either. So I guess I just like the chrono look without bothering about the actual function. This looks nice though I'd prefer the yellow to be more like the ET dress quartz shade.

I agree, i like the look too, and rarely use the chronograph anyways! The shade is actually nicer than I thought, it looks classier and more expensive somehow.

Easy to get distracted. It looks great, and tells the time. For 99.9% thats perfect. Ive just watched Jody's review of the PD Daytona. Which would I rather have? Im not sure. The second hand certainly seems bang on. I like it. Good pick up.

I've just bought my Sekonda 1395 Yellow Chrono whist in duty free. Very attracted to the design and colour. Any thoughts on this - whilst on my wrist my watch is losing around 20 minutes every 24 hrs however, off my wrist it loses no time at all???? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need a new movement. I would say magnetised, but thats pretty consistent and not dependant on being worn or not.

at 45mm it's too big to be comfortable on my 7.5" wrist. I love the yellow and black dial and contrasting sports strap - pity they don't do an equivalent of a VK63 5 ticks /sec' in 40-41mm

I am prob one of the biggest Sekonda collectors out there and I can't help feeling for the money, the meca-quartz Pagani or one of the Pulsar/Lorus chrono's would have been more worth the money... I actually got my grail of grails Soviet Sekonda "tank" out yesterday, a NOS from the early part of the 70's I snagged for £14 and led to many people in the Soviet watch collecting world stop speaking to me as this was the same month I picked up a genuine Poljot Sturmanskie Gagarin from 1961 for... £12... woops and I won't mention the £4 solid gold Avia from 1947... :P

I think though, the lugs are a bit undersized for the case size. I think if they bring the case size down a few mm it will balance out a bit better but it may feel and look different if it were on wrist in person

Indices show how many times a number or letter has been multiplied by itself - it's Algebra, - also there's no such thing as a Chapter ring either. I used to be a Manager in Jewellery, also worked for H Samuel.

Hmm, a no from meIm afraid. Too short seconds hand and the date wheel is obviously meant for a much smaller diameter watch. The colour also feel a bit weak to me. If youre gonna do yellow then go prime colour yellow. This one looks washed out. Sorry Dan :/ I still enjoy your vids though ;)

This video has disappointed me. I just ordered this watch. The pictures I saw in the add the face looked yellow. Watching this video it looks more brushed yellow gold. I’m bummed out. The watch is scheduled to arrive from the UK to me in the US on the 27th. I know this is a old video. But I will share my thoughts.

It's way too large, with an awkward positioning of the date window hands being way too small at the same time. All of this comes with a useless tachymeter bezel. What else does it take to qualify it as a nonsense watch?

The subdials are close to the center, as well as the date, one of them is smaller, ... very poor lazy design, they put any trash cheap Chinese movement inside without caring the least about their potential customers. I´d rather cut my arm than wear that.
