Maybe a long time ago when the soldiers lived in tomb quarters, but they have a pretty normal life. Just not allowed to get in any trouble or their badge # gets revoked. Also, they don't spend much time with family since they only get one full day off out of every nine days.

@HoopyAmero8 жыл бұрын
It's been a while and I may have miss remember things but even if you start off as a E-1 it would take 1 year to make it to specialist, and that's without getting wavers. Which I would understand if you're in a big unit and you're either not getting the limited amount of wavers because you're a pogue or your 1Sgt is screwing the lower enlisted in exchange for promotions. (this happened in a unit I was in, he was told to "retire" and nothing came of it) But for a Sentinel? Such a prestigious position, you figure he'd get promoted just a quick as someone on the trail. Hell, we have real gun-ho guys come in E-4, E-5 by year one and make E-6 around re-enlistment (end of 3rd year). But ya gotta really want it, and not suck at PT. (E-1 aka E-nothing because you have no rank on your collar and your recruiter is a lazy blue falcon for failing to square you away for basic.)

Oh snap, I looked it up, tis is 24 months. Man, that's a crazy long time to be a dang PFC haha! And I guess those guys I seen go from Sgt to Ssg in my unit on their first contract must've done it under a four year contract with 48 months tis.
@SPACKLEBOX7 жыл бұрын
There are instances where one may receive a waiver for promotion to SPC on the 18 month mark, as was my case. Also I imagine that Sentinels are exceedingly rare so they might not have had the flexibility to send him off to BLC to earn his stripes. If that was the case, the right answer would be for leaders to ensure that all soldiers have the maximum opportunity to develop and advance their military skills and careers. Then again it's possible that he never wanted to become an NCO and stick with the E4 Mafia - again as was my case lol.
