Oh, damn. There's more CGI than I thought. Not all of it looks good (in fact, it's pretty easy to point out what's fake and not), but in most cases it actually brings a charm to the series that I can appreciate.

Nay Lin Htet Theres nothing wrong with the rendering. Its the cgi in general thats a bit sketchy. Probably with purpose.

I fully agree with this. A majority of ASOUE's charm comes from history and nostalgia, so I absolutely love the way they animated these scenes.

Indeed, most of the show has also been extremely "flat" color wise creating a bit of a dreamy otherworld-ish look to it. I actually really like the way it looks in most cases. Photorealism was never the target for this show.

I get it's supposed to look fake, but I wish they'd used more pratical effects because some of the CGI just looks ugly. For example, the repitiles could be stop-motion. I mean, they're emulating Wes Anderson anyway, so why not go there.

WaffleLappen I honestly am not going to argue because it’s your opinion, but for all the fictional things that are in the book that they put into the show with special effects in pretty damn impressive. And in a interview Melina (Violet) said that pretty much all of the set was real. A lot of sunny the baby’s part are kind of cringy and just weird like when she throws the cards at hook man, but that’s all that I can say is bad.

In the book it said that Klaus and violet had separated rooms like violets was big with paper on the walls and Klaus with a small room for Cosey reading with a small brass lamp that was used to hit uncle Monty on the head but in Netflix it was a glass lamb

Compair to the first movie is like i see the a man giving up the strong engine of xbox and going to the weak ps2 The first one was for the classis xbox The second was ps2 i mean bad cgi i didnt like the actor for Klaus and the cgi was terrible the baby movement were not normal in some episodes and Btw the cgi was the same as the xbox 360 graphics But the series it has good scenario not bad for a cheap series i am impressed with the series

Its called style, and "bad" cgi in this series is a part of its style. Also the cgi that you probably see is the cgi that they made look worse to give the series more style. The cgi that you dont recognise as cgi is good. Why? Becase you dont RECOGNISE it.

I'm not sure film-level CGI would be possible for a series. They usually fall a bit behind due to time constraints and budget.

Recommended for you have you read the books? having lemony snicket narrating is the piece that puts it all together. it is a central part of the books and therefore must be included in the show, and doing so makes it that much better.
