Hey guy. I'm a 52 year old guy that's been playing for 40 of those years. I stumbled on this video of you noodling with all of your Charvels. Can I just say that YOU'RE FUCKING PHENOMENAL!!!! I was absolutely blown away by your precision and phrasing,2 things that a lot of young flashy players kind of ignore in favor of all out speed. Also,your whammy bar prowess is reminiscent of the fellow with the 3 lettered last name and the monkey grip guitars. 8-) Keep it up buddy,you're destined for some great things provided you keep your head on straight and keep all the "outside trappings" in moderation. ;-) Oh yeah,and you have a new subscriber in this jaded old dude. Lol Keep rocking Cameron,you're a natural. \m/

Can I just say that this is one of the best comments I have ever received from anyone, that is so generous and I really appreciate that! I'm glad you enjoy my content too. I try to approach the more musical of playing besides going for pure speed. It really makes me feel warm inside reading comments like this. I don't know what else to say apart from thanks so much. You're truly ace! :)

@@CameronCooper 5 years ago he was 52 and now I'm that age too. Not gonna lie - it blows. I also love your phrasing. I'm a big fan of Rick Graham's insane legato but not so much fusion, so your improv ideas are closer to mine (though obviously not shit) don't know if you'll even see a comment on a 5 year old video but keep on showing us oldies how it's done.

Making a good riff is much more difficult than having guitar skills. Look at Vai and Malmsteen, amazing guitar mechanics, but they never made a great song. Even Van Halen struggled to come up with great songs, but as a musician Eddie was much better than the aboved mentioned shredders.

Hey Cameron, was wandering if you could maybe make a video sometime of how you setup one of your guitars (preferably with a floyd-rose). They always look so clean and sound great, especially intonation wise so it would be really great if you showed how to do it the right way (for all the people who aren't really sure what they are doing, like me :D)
@CameronCooper8 жыл бұрын
Hi Cheers so much for your comment I really appreciate it.. I actually don't have my guitars set up really, they're just the same as they were when I first got them. I don't like to fiddle with the guitars because I honestly have no idea what I am doing either. I just learn to play them as they are and adapt to each guitar. I wouldn't want to make a video if I didn't know what I was doing because I would probably give out bad advice I'm hating to say. I always recommend getting people's guitars set up by a professional guitar tech. With regards to set up, I like a medium action, and perhaps a hint of back play on my floyd rose. I honestly don't use the the floyd rose much at all. I just like to have one because it has rock solid tuning stability :)
@johncooper62658 жыл бұрын
Cameron.... now, don't forget your personal guitar tech guru..aka...your Dad ha ha!
@CameronCooper8 жыл бұрын
+John Cooper Of course we can't forget that. ☺
@johncooper62658 жыл бұрын
Hi - I am Cam's dad and generally the one who sets guitars up etc. I am sure we could sort some advice out for you...with a floyd you just have to be quite delicate in the set up and often have to adjust the springs at rear, plus the main posts to get action right...bit fiddly. For intonation, Cam could show this to your easily...you could use natural harmonics or a basic tuner.

So after playing the Mexican, Japanese and I assume the the USA built versions. What are the main differences you have noticed? Which do you think is the best overall? I’m guessing the Japanese versions are the best?
@CameronCooper3 жыл бұрын
All of them are designed to do the same job and are excellent! I prefer the mexican models because you get a better variety of tones as well as exceptional quality for a guitar from that price range. The japanese were great for their simplicity and phenomenal tone, plus came with a hard case so if you wanted the best all round package defintely the japanese made. The USA made Charvels are insanely good, but you're playing way more for a guitar that says 'Made In USA' on it. It basically comes down to what your budget is and what you prefer the look of. I do think the USA models have better finishes. Never underestimate the Korean made Charvels too! Just as good as mexican if not better.

Were any of them made by Wayne Charvel at all. If not then they were made with his name only if you want a Wayne Charvel guitar they are called Wayne guitars now him and his son Michael make them out of Paradise California. They pay attention to detail any and every way you can and the sound is phenomenal real Charvels made by Wayne Charvel
@CameronCooper5 жыл бұрын
I'd argue it's a REAL Charvel if it has his name on. They're brilliant guitars, beautifully designed and crafted - perfectly reproducing Wayne's designs and ideas as well as evolving them. It's like saying a USA Fender Strat is not a REAL Fender because Leo himself didn't make it. You could say the same about Marshall amps. They all perform as their creators originally intended, whether or not they're dead or alive.
