This machine has a beautiful aesthetic. It just belongs in some 1990s Japanese anime. Thank you for sharing!

Great Looking Machine! I'd love to see you get some software running. Thanks for cataloguing the machine! Also, The Japanese MZ-6500 is identical to the European MZ-5600

Great to see you doing vids again! Really appreciate your coverage around obscure japanese machines. That card cage reminded me a bit of the Super MZ.

Thanks, it's appreciated. I've yet to own a Super MZ - it's a little too popular to get cheaply :)

That's a very nice looking machine, looks like it's got a fair amount of heft to it. I was suprised how modern the mfm card looked, I was not expecting so much surface mount stuff on it.

Sharp certainly seemed to be on the tip of the curve for production in this era.

@@ReEnthusedThere can't have been too many companies going for surface mount then, commodore, acorn etc did not get there until the 90s.

I knew about other Sharp machines but not this one. Thanks for sharing it with us. My initial question was going to be what have you managed to do with it - but the answer was, nothing! I do hope that you're able to get it up and running eventually. 🙂

Hah, yeah not much. I've got a potential contact though in Japan so they may be able to help - if so I'll do an update.

Might grab one of those machines sometime. Did you inspect the power supply by chance?

Not inside, no. I have to take it apart soon. I did check the voltages and they're stable.

Very nice machine, I have a couple of MZ80A's I'm working on myself. It's a shame with machines like an Apricot F1 (which I've also got to get working) when they are MS-DOS compatible but not PC compatible, really limits what you can do with them not that it should stop anyone from collecting them.

The Japanese case designs are pretty cool. It’s a shame we aren’t seeing any repros for various ATX standards.

True, it would surely be a fairly easy win, even without the nostalgia

Nice the Japanese computers from the 80s are very poorly documented compared to western systems. they are almost forgotten.
@ReEnthused

Indeed, hopefully the more videos we make the more attention they'll get. There must be people out there, especially in Japan, that has information.

@@ReEnthused Yea we got to learn Japanese to ask the questions. but i noticed that people in Asia are not as nostalgic as Europeans and Americans.
