Wow what an encouraging video for all Shiba owners who are trying to train. Banana is adorable and knows so much for a 1 yr old!! I wonder how she is doing today? Question, what type of treats are you using? She seems to really be going all out for them. My 3 mo old Shiba doesn't seem to care for certain treats and blows me completely off sometimes when I try to train w/ them.

S Dot We were actually just using her normal kibble, which is Taste of the Wild. I'm not sure what flavor we had her eating back then; maybe pacific stream.

Very intelligent breed I've noticed just by sheer observation.

I didn't know shibas were so smart

Shibes are incredibly smart, not to mention stubborn and dominant either. But with daily mental and physical training, you can tame one.

We socialized and trained Banana from day one! They learn very quickly and can outsmart their owners if you're not careful! Never give up on a shiba- they are truly the best companions!

Just because it's hard to teach them what you want them to do doesn't mean they're smart, just obedient. Shibas are very independent and think a lot for themselves. For example my yuna won't do any tricks if she doesn't smell or see treats in my hands. At one point she faked potty warnings by running into the back door and whimpering just so she can play outside. And believe me I would sit there and be like i"s she faking?" For 20-30 mins just cause I didn't want to risk it. Now I can tell the fake whimper and the real one.

Love your video! Banana is really smart and so cute 😊 Did you do the training by yourself or did you take her to a dog trainer ? I have a baby Shiba Inu (he's 3 months). He already learned some tricks, he's a quick learner I can tell, but I'm still wondering about professional dog training. Thanks ! 😊

How did you get her to pay attention to you ? I recently got a shiba (hes 10 weeks old) and sometimes he just seems so uninterested! Or like he knows what I’m saying and what I want him to do but he won’t do it 🙁.

Lots of treats man I’d like to know how you’re progressing with yours. Mine is about to be 4 months and he’s reaching a high level of obedience. He struggles when outside and off leash but I think it’s expected from this breed.

Baeto Gomez he’s doing really well right now! He’s super obedient(with treats) and I’m slowly working to less and less treats. Ive learned that treats help a lot but also training every day for a few minutes. However, he doesn’t like to lay down or roll over or anything. He does it, just doesn’t enjoy it as much
