I am British born and raised and I truly thought that he came across as being extremely rude, scarily aggressive with telling the young man that he was going to put his gun away and that he wanted to punch him throughout, which was very uncomfortable to watch. I understand why, that actually gave me a deeper appreciation for Tyler. We all deal with many personalities, and some just aren't meant to mesh with ours. Tyler always (well, at least the "always" we get to see) seems to find the best of someone's soul. I've seen a few that I would say were worse than this (condescending and a little full of themselves), and by the end, Tyler had me looking at them different.
