The Japanese are masters of transportation. The rest of world should sit up and take notes. I've been noticing that you're not doing much KZbin work...good to see you post something. You're like the everyday man youtuber of airline reviews....happy to sit in cattle class and be geeked over apple juice...no need to review the 1st class menu and wine list on Emirates on this channel! I've had one domestic Japanese air travel experience...1990, Japan Airlines B767 Naha, Okinawa to Tokyo-Narita to connect to a Northwest 747-200 headed to SFO. I need to try ANA...one simply never hears a single syllable of negativity about them.

I agree David! Flying in Japan is always a treat (no matter what airline it is). Yeah, I’m usually just as happy in economy as I am in business class - it’s all good to me. Hope you get to try ANA soon!

I flew in a domestic 787-900 from Haneda to Fukuoka earlier this year (March) and it was great. Plane was great, the seat was good, service was great. The weather was amazing and I had a great view on Mount Fuji as well. 10/10 would go again

For those wondering, we have capacity limitations for air traffic and hub airports, which are mostly Haneda, Narita, Kansai, Itami, Fukuoka, and Sapporo. So it was not uncommon to use 747 for a 1 hour flight between Tokyo and Osaka. The routes between hubs are the rice winners. The other thing is Japanese airlines compete with the Bullet Train. So price is reasonable.

I was mildly impressed in my one experience with ANA’s domestic service (NRT-FUK), though I’ve flown to/from Japan with them a couple times now. The swing to Fukuoka was on a 737 but every seat had a seat back TV with the map and a couple other channels, announcements were bilingual and they dutifully brought around snack and drink service even on a fairly short flight. I appreciated it almost as much as the shuteye I was able to squeeze in having arrived from DC.

Nice to meet you again Scott. Once again excellent vid and very Scott....ish! Thats a positive comment of mine! BUT like always, Claus as he is, in Europe all snacks and alc beverages are free of charge on Air France and KLM on 1 hour flying time operations. On "my" T.W.A. there was a snack on the B-767 from San Diego to LAX! plus free soft drinks. Alc for purchase. In coach! Where have all the good times gone... But it is good for me to know that you are still in business and I am looking forward to future vids. THANK YOU!

Japanese airlines on domestic routes don't do food service, only refreshment service, unless you are in first class. I took ANA first class on a 787 from HND to CTS and they served a full meal. Also the paper cup they used for your juice is the collab they have with Demon Slayer Anime. I bought the luggage tags from ANA with the anime collab back in 2022.

I think it was because of the short duration of the flight that there was no snack served. How good to be swapped to the international B787!

just a questiin please ; are ANA domestic flights usually on time ? i booked a domestic flight with'em then after five hours i have an international flight ? is it risky or not?
@sanspotter5 ай бұрын
I just did some checking, and this flight usually goes out early 66% of the time. It goes out on schedule 33% of the time. ANA runs a pretty good operation IMHO.

@sanspotter2 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yes, I did check a bag but they didn’t seem to be too strict about it. As a matter of fact, I thought it might be overweight but they took it no questions asked.

I was a domestic 787 and it was a torture. The seat padding was so hard and I left with back pain. International 787 is nothing to write home about because they were all densified to 9-abreast, and it was still better than the domestic and regional 787.

Coming from China I think 2k round trip to Japan is seriously not bad considering flying to China from US is always super expensive post-pandemic, though I could never live that long in the back of the plane
@sanspotter Жыл бұрын
Yeah, things got really expensive after Covid. I hate to be a pessimist, but I doubt we’ll ever see reasonable airfare between the US and Asia again.

Hey Scott! Okay, so this may sound crazy (because it is) but did you know that you and be were at the same airport on the same day at the same time? After looking at your flight history I found that you landed at Hiroshima at 8:32am on Thursday, July 13, 2023. That same exact day, I was flying from Hiroshima to Tokyo, and my flight was scheduled to leave at 10:20am. I got to the airport about 2hrs before, which is 8:20am-8:30am. Soooo… with you landing at Hiroshima at 8:32am, and me getting to the Hiroshima Airport at 8:20am-8:30am, we were *literally* at the same exact place, at the same time, all the way on the other side of the world. That’s crazy to think about; and it would have been cool to meet you!

Scott, you know well that you would have never received a snack on a one hour domestic Economy flight in the U.S. Therefore, don't gripe about the Japanese.
@sanspotter Жыл бұрын
Fair point. The only reason I mentioned it was because of how amazing Japanese service culture usually is. There’s no way I would’ve expected a snack in the US (or anywhere else in the world), and I probably set my expectations too high. The fact that I was extremely hungry wasn’t helping. 😄

I was deeply disturbed by the disclosure of how to spot an Air Marshall.😬 Now, how can I ever feel safe or protected on a flight?🤔 Because I'll be thinking "who's going to 'take out' the Air Marshall?" Some things (especially regarding the safety of a persons life)-- are better left unknown!
