The Archdiocese of Oklahoma City is building a shrine dedicated to Blessed Stanley Rother, a US priest who gave his life serving his parish and God in Guatemala. The shrine will be 6,000 square feet and will cost $40 million. It will serve as a visible reminder of the Church's presence in Oklahoma and is modeled after the Blessed Stanley's Church in Guatemala. There will also be a museum dedicated to sharing his life and mission. Blessed Stanley Rother died in Guatemala in 1981. Executive Director of the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine, Leif Arvidson, joins to tell us about Blessed Stanley Rother and how he remains relevant today. Arvidson discusses the cost of the shrine, how the archdiocese was able to raise the funds and whether they are still on schedule to have it finished by next summer. The executive director of the shrine shares what he hopes people will learn from their time there and why it was so important to build it. Arvidson gives us an update on Blessed Stanley's path to sainthood.
