That's a damn shame. Luckily, the seller took this unit back, refunded my money in total, and then re-sold it as a non-working parts machine. I recently purchased a good-condition SL-HF2100, which worked fine for 3 weeks, then quit on me - every time I pushed PLAY it would go into Auto-off and nothing would work. Turns out it needs a new capstan, which I'm having replaced. I should get the unit back soon.

That's a shame Ray. I too love this model and had a similar issue some time back with an Ebay purchase which turned out to be (in part) semi conductive debris within the control block switch assy. I ate the unit. My most recent purchase of a 1000 worked for a week and then loaded, threaded, and went into Pause. Accepts commands and sits and waits for Pause to flip flop which never comes. Oh well! I give up.

Ahhhhh, that’s just Sony’s new “Automatic” vcr. It does everything for ya. Seems to be working to me ......cheers.

Can you remove the Batterys from the InfraredRemote? I have a problem like this and found out that the IR is sending asynchron a Command out to the Recorder. If not the JogWeel maybe have the Problem in the Encoder. I see the Channel '1H4' this is not normal it could be a Problem with the Connectionboard between the Controllerboard and the Display or the Controller is defekt. Sometimes i had a problem wiht the Powersupply (inside the Recorder) the Capacitors are defect and i must change this Capasitors.

Volker King Yes, the batteries come out of the back of the remote, like all other remotes!!

i see and you found out what's happend with this machine? Maybe it is a Powersupplyfailure or a Microcontroller problem or a wrong solder connection on the PCB Board. I'm also interesst in a HD-Betamax Recorder but in Europe you cna't buy a Machine like this only in Japan on a Auction. If i bought a HD-Betamax in Japan i have the problem that this machines are only in NTSC/60Hz System so we use PAL/50Hz and the Japanese Auctionhouse have only the NTSC System and no Multisystem.
