Agreed! More presents doesnt mean better Christmas. Hubby and I have had a limit of $50, for the last 11 years, for each others yearly gift. We talked back then and agreed that one, thought out, useful gift that costs $10 is better than 5 junk gifts we will never use or something expensive just to get something under the tree for each other. However, we do both still enjoy buying and opening a few really thoughtful gifts for Christmas for each other and arent yet willing to give up the entire gift giving thing. We do NOT have extended family nor kids of our own.

100% agree. Let’s get back to the real reason for the season and try and enjoy the simple things in life.

The fact anyone had the audacity to rage about what YOU bought YOUR kids is freaking insane. You do you! ❤

I so agree.I love decorating our home & getting gifts my kids ask for however i ensure everything is done within budget.I really dont want a big fat credit card bill come January.Christmas is done strictly with a debit card

I so agree! I have 6 kids. Refusing to go into debt for stuff your kids don't need shouldn't be controversial.

We do not do lots of toys! Just a few things. At my house grands get 3 gifts, 1 big two small. . At home they get a few things. They do not need a bunch of stuff.

Simple is best no matter one's income or wealth. Little House on the Prairie (the books not the TV series) Christmases were the best. Too many get caught up in Martha Stewart Christmases, not that we couldn't learn some things from her, but many go over the top based on the advertising media with unpleasant results.

My grandfather was born and reared in Norway, and I have visited the west coast of Norway. I think the Scandinavians have it right emphasizing quality over quantity, time in nature and home cooking.

I just found you, I subscribed in a first minute of the video. In Europe its always one bigger gift and few smaller, or 2-3 gifts. Its never a room full of presents. Where would we put it? We live in much smaller spaces, like 700 sq.feet for family is a big space. Thank you for normalizing and explaining things

This was a great video. We don’t have any money this year, as I lost my job in mid August due to health reasons. We have two girls, 7 and 14, and we’re getting them 4 gifts each. All together we’re going to spend about $80 for both girls. We have always tried to have simple Christmas’s for them but the grandparents have always gone all out. They finally listened this year and aren’t getting them a ton of gifts. Thank you for this. I love your channel!
