It still works regardless of where you are on the planet. At least with respect to the az-alt coordinates as these are relative to the observer. If you are using the celestial sphere and right ascension and declination, these don't change. Just means the objects you can see are going to be different. So while it might feel 'upside down,' the principles of right ascension and declination still apply, just from a different viewpoint
