My own name was Lavery for some years, My daughter and son carry on this name courtesy of their father Hugh Gerrod Joseph Lavery born in 1949 Belfast. She was an beautiful and amazing woman she never gave up she was determined to help Ireland and she deeply loved Michael Collins and many loved her and she was an great artist she save Ireland behind the scenes and then after Michael died she had to burn all the letters because if IRA would find out an affair it would been bad and hazel one time use her body as an shield at the window of attempt on Michael Collins this lady hazel did an lot than people know but she haven't been recognized like she should be she should be more recognized

Mary Harris AKA Mother Jones was also Irish and a Force to be Reckoned With fighting for the Rights of Minors , their wives and children. Singer/actress Ronnie Gilbert did a magnificent one woman show as Mother Jones. I hope they made a video or a film. You all would love it! What an interesting surprise to find some small connections with both Hazel and John Lavery. My great grandfather painted in a very similar fashion to Lavery’s portraits and landscapes. They were of a similar age and appeared to have been studying at the art school in Glasgow at the same time. The other insignificant connection was through Hazels fathers work in animal processing in Chicago. Loved this presentation as it gave me much needed information for my Irish heritage.

"Planted out of existence" is a reference to the unfettered open borders policy of the so-called ROI establishment which has seen, and continues to see, thousands of unvetted migrant males (majority) pouring onto our tiny island nation. Shocking, scandalous and deadly dangerous. If one imports the third world ; one gets the third world. Oil and water don't mix, neither do incompatible cultures. She sounds like a character out of a Julian Fellowes period drama, and Cromwell Place sounds like inspiration for Eaton Place of Upstairs Downstairs fame. I wasn't at all familiar with this backstory of Irish independence (beyond Michael Collins and the known chronology). I'm only 4th generation Irish American on a couple of lines but have yet to visit Ireland. Thank you for this insightful biography.

I guess I have an excuse, being only half Irish Catholic, but when they said Hazel had taken Micheal Collin’s scapula after he died, I thought she’d made off with his shoulder blade! My mind was immediately befuddled and over run with visions and questions; like how did it have religious import; how did she manage it; wasn’t it gory; why didn’t anyone notice; what was the look on Sir Leslie’s face when she remorsefully gave it to him and why was it something to be shown to children over the years??? The best I could come up with was “Well, that’s very different. “ It was a relief and also a bit of a letdown when I realized my mistake. 😅
