Blimey Tim , I'm still trying to save for the Mad Dog coil. You are going to bankrupt me at this rate lol 73 M7BLC.

Tim - this may be a daft question… the 10m trap and the 15m trap? Are they easy to build, or would you buy those?
@timg5tm9416 ай бұрын
Easy to build. I bought mine. Lots of info online on coax traps
@niallconway94446 ай бұрын
Thanks Tim - just found some coax trap calculators online, I think that was the piece of knowledge I was missing…. Look straightforward enough to make. Thanks again

It's always nice to have a multiband antenna that performs well. Plus it should take up very little space for portable ops.

Totally agree Mike

Thanks for sharing. I wonder how a single vertical without traps, but a auto tuner and counterpoise would compare, just less parts and time.

Indeed.

Great idea. How to make the 10 and 15m traps ? Can't find any information about that. The 35uH coils is clear.

I’ll put something out soon on those

AND, of course you need a 5kw amp to make sure you are getting your full 1kw out of the antenna at all times 🙂Very interesting set of videos Mike, put it on the car roof, 4 guy lines and 70mph down the M5 would be great fun. I do love the no radials idea though, as I have said to you before I think. It is one of the things that discourages me from /P working, as well as the logging hassle with LOTW, QRZ, EQSL etc. Could do it and just not bother to log but it is part of the fun, just wished the digital type on line loggers could make it easier to work multiple locations. I know lot of folks do run /P logs but would be great to be easier. Suppose if I did do it a few times it would become easier though.

Yes coax traps.

I've never used traps before. Would the length of coax used to build the trap be included in the length of the antenna?
@timg5tm9416 ай бұрын
No the length indicated is purely vertical wire between the traps

For the 10m and 15m traps what frequencies should be used for the coax trap calculator?
@timg5tm9416 ай бұрын
Mine are just below both bands
@echo2papa26 ай бұрын
@timg5tm941 so when you say just below would 27.9 MHz (10m) and 20.9 MHz (15m) work or would there be better frequencies?

Nice timing Tim I am looking for a short antenna for my 817. My efhw is bloody massive in my garden. Having to make 20m wire disappear in a 8x8m garden. Are you going to build this? How do you think it would work as a inverted V, guess a slopper would be better.On a 6m mast for port ops? 73

I squeezed a 60m inverted vee into a 25' x 13' garden maximum height around 22'. That's about 44' each side, an odd shape but it gets out. G4GHB.

@@bill-2018 morning Bill that's sounds great. The things we have to do to get on the air. I have a mess of a garden as the dog runs around, ripping the grass up and a very helpful neighbour who tells me I've put a mast up just in case I've forgotten about it the day before 😂. It not like I have a pump up mast with a hex beam on it. I don't I use sotabeams ultra thin wire so it's not seen that much on a 10m mast which isn't at its full hight. 👍🏽

@@m7trsradio Morning, in 33 years living here nobody has even asked what the wires in my garden are, probably think I'm just crazy. I tried long wires, doublets, verticals and wanted to get on 60m so put this up before covid. 5 attic dipoles 20m to 10m, indoor h.f. mag. loop, a 2 element 2m collinear and a copy of a Joystick with 23' of wire for lower h.f.
