Been down to tyre fitters today got a couple of of valves too but didn’t get chance to get down to caravan storage yard today the owners put in place a booking system Due to COVID lockdown so there is not to many people in the same area at the same time , So got a booking for Monday afternoon so will pop down and get the whale master pump see if i can do the same to mine has my pump goes into the aqua roll and has 2 pipes going to pump 1 for water and 1 for electric might have to search for a earlier whale aqua master pipe has that one has a filter instead of pump . Like your comment that it wouldn’t cost me anything 😂😂 no doubt there will be some products being shown in future videos that will cost me money again 🤪😀 best regards Mark and Hazel x A big sorry to Michele. Good video. When we pack up to come home from a trip i open the drain on the pump and leave all the taps open so as we travel home all the water drains away. I leave the drain and taps open until we go on another trip. Never had a issue. Next time a fill up the system there is no water just air. Also watch how much pressure you are putting through your pump as it is only ment to pump one way. I know the pump isnt running but it still get pressurised with this trick. Had the van from new now 8 years old and never had any issues. We live near the peak district and so it gets cold in the winter.
@keithandmichele4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, As we said at the end of the video, we haven’t done this procedure before & shocked at how much water came out of the system. We always used to leave the the drain tap open & all the interior taps open to allow for expansion. Although we’re not experts, to have 1.5 litres of water in the caravan over winter, we don’t think this can be a good thing. Better to be safe than sorry. Thanks for watching, sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele.

Great to see tips like this may I ask does not using this system not damage the onboard pump? In another comment someone suggested you can just run your onboard pump until all the water is out again will this not damage the onboard pump! And then to answer a comment I read on here ( As anyone had any problems with residual water left in the system) I can answer this I have just bought a 22 month old swift challenger it hadn’t been used since last year but the caravan had been drained, after pressuring up the system I nipped out to buy some Alda heating fluid I was gone about a hour on my return stepped in the van to a very soggy carpet and water coming from under a unit, after investigating the leak found that a pipe from behind the shower tap had been dislodged and was leaking the only cause of this could have been ice, the only thing holding these pipes in the tap was a small plastic pin not the best design in a domestic situation the pipes are threaded but that’s caravans for you! Sorry for long comment but hope this proves frozen water does damage.
@davy999 Жыл бұрын
If you dont have a pumped water inlet then you can make a similar device with an inner tube valve inside a 15mm (Conex) compression nut and screw it onto the shower outlet.

Hi there, I bought the Floe device before seeing this video.(Deep sadness). I think taking the tyre valve in and out will take its toll on the pipe though. But.......a new Truma inlet is only £18.00, valve is pence and you still have a dedicated draindown device at a third of the orice.

Well pleased with ours, cost £20 for the Truma connection and pipe, as the caravan one has a pump included. Managed to get nearly a litre out of the pipes😊👍

Hi K & M loving your videos, thanks. Just as an observation on the tip on drain down, great idea and money saving tip from Howard. Need to keep in mind the one fit pipe compression clamp that holds the pipe tight to the blue filter is not corrosive, and designed to be submerged in water for long periods of time, the jubilee clamps tend to rust. Which would result in the iron deposits forming inside the Aquaroll, also the valves being used to pressurise the system are likely to be contaminated as not good grade and generally used in motor industry. I recommend using the water purifier tablets before using the system again to prevent any issues. Maybe using an alternative pipe solely used for the pressuring of the system might be an idea. Keep up the great work! Thanks Scott.

Hi Steve, Yes, it’s quite funny to think of all the requests for tyre valves this weekend 😆 Hopefully they won’t increase the price to £55 due to demand 😂 Many thanks for watching, sending best wishes, Keith & Michele.

Fantastic idea, just a word of warning, most jubilee clips are steel, they rust. Look for stainless steel clips, thats what the 1 use clip is made of, they are on line, never seen them in the shops, great tip will be doing ours this weekend, safe tow till next time. Mark

I was going to do the exact same thing but using a bicycle inner tube valve . The kits you buy are prohibitory expensive and it would be a good idea if people at storage yards all clubbed in together for one maybe . I wish my water inlet hose plugged in as easy as yours did

Hi , what a great video very informative, can I ask a couple of questions, do you need to have the pump switched on and secondly do you only add the pressure once , many thanks, Martin
@keithandmichele4 жыл бұрын
Hi Martin, You do not need to have the electric water pump switched on. The portable tyre inflator we used is automatic so when the taps were open & the pressure dropped, the air pump automatically re-started & put the pressure back up to 15 psi. If you are using any other method or pump you will need to re-pump the system after each tap has been bled. Hope this helps, thanks for watching, best wishes, Keith & Michele.

It's also recommended to blow down regularly with this kit throughout the year, and not just winterising protecting your caravan pipes & taps from frost. Think about it, that amount of stagnated water left in pipes if not flushed out regularly. If we get warm or hot summers, could also lead to upset tums or worse. Spoiling your holiday.
@djmills00164 жыл бұрын
You don’t need this as you have a flojet diaphragm pump that is just as effective at pumping air as it is water. You can allow the flojet to pressurise the system on its own and then open the taps to low them through 👍🏽 This only needs to be done like this for people who don’t have an internal pump and only have the external pump that goes into the barrel ☺️
@keithandmichele4 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for this tip, very interesting to hear. We’ll definitely be trying this 👍🏻 Thanks for watching, sending our best wishes, Keith & Michele.
@tonyclegg Жыл бұрын
Yes, this seems to make sense. However, I put this point to Floe and they said this ' Water pumps are made to suck water in one side and plunge it out the other. This is done with a rising and falling motion like the heart. However, once the water runs out on the one side, the pump has nothing to suck in and therefore can’t push any out and air cannot be sucked in, with this method, so the water in the pipe after the pump lies dormant and will only move forward when there is water behind the pump again to push it through. That doesn’t help us though. This dormant water needs to be pushed out. So the only way to do this is to get air injected under pressure to push the water forward. The same concept is used to remove the hydraulic oil from machinery.'

Hi Keith & Michele, I’ve just purchased a secondhand caravan and have no idea how to use the power system I.e. when does the car charge the caravan? When does the mains charge the caravan? What setting do I use on the mains switches? Does the solar panel charge the battery when stored? How do you cool the fridge when towing? I’ve just gone to my caravan whilst in storage and the battery is flat, not sure why that is, the lights were off. Anyway if you can do a video on the power system then that would be much appreciated. Great videos by the way 😀. I have a Swift Elegance 2016

We purchased a Kampa Gale for our Kampa awning and use this to drain down our excess water. We connect it to the shower hose on a low psi and open each tap in turn the same. So for anyone with one of these this is also a possible use for it.
